General Do you like your TwinAir?

I bought a '12 85 twin air 3 weeks ago. I Think the car drives and handles great. No leaks[emoji1360] it's true, its an absolute b#tch to keep clean and not entirely convinced about the mpg BUT I am so glad I bought a TA 500 and not a punto. Does sound a bit "knocky" from cold start but goes after it's warmed up. I put that down to it being a 2 cyl[emoji1591]

I bought the ta because my partner wanted to learn to drive and my 522rwhp falcon wasn't the car for her to learn in and if I'm to be honest I like the ta just as much. We've had the 2013 twinair for three months now and I think it's a brilliant little car, kind of wish we had bought it sooner.

No. Awful car.

Had since April 2016 brand new 105. Broken down twice before it had 400 miles on the clock. Been in the dealers three times for at least a month in total. Had new:

Multi air unit
ECU
Thermostat
Coolant expansion tank bottle
Water pump

Still drives like it's got terrible turbo lag/flat spot when pulling away and in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears - almost like the message from the accelerator is taking a second to get to the engine. Had it 7 months now and only 1200 on the clock as we don't really trust it.

Without the driving problems we'd like it. It looks great and has all the gadgets we'd ever want. But pulling away the (very lovely) 500 1.2 ByDiesel we had for the previous 6 years, was way less powerful but got off the line miles better.

You need to get that sorted, did you get fiat cs involved? Try another dealer and get a fresh opinion. The 105 should be lots of fun not a burden! Also worth driving another 105 as a comparison.

Could be that the wrong spec of oil was used at the last service.

Why no punto..??

Allergic to 6 gears..?
Or was it the Cruise Control you couldnt stomach..?

There's a spine-chilling story in the news today on this very subject.

Sadly the driver was killed after crashing at 119mph after his cruise control had jammed on. In a car with keyless ignition, what would you do...?

Sounds awful..
But is a failure of several subsystems.

It should NOT force an accellwration..

The brake swich should disable the cruies DRIVE

As should the ON/OFF selector switch

I've had two 500 lounges 1.2 both good cars but sluggish until I started to use shell V power which made a massive improvement I then bought a panda 4x4 which has a twin air engine wow I was hooked what a fun engine only kept it for a year and stopped it for a 500s 85hp what a great car loads of smiles per mile. Three things you need to do with any fiat 500 fit Boch aero twin wiper blades they don't judder across the glass like the original wiper blades, use shell V power fuel, and finally specify bi xenon head lights. Yesterday I collected my new 500s 105 in crossover black 16"wheels red brake calipers black leather/ivory trim and bi xenon headlights and I absolutely love it to bits the sport button is going to stay on! There is a significant improvement over the 85hp engine ie no turbo lag and disc brakes all round mean it stops far quicker. Ive read many journalists reviews of the 500 over the years and they all say the 105 is the one to have and I wholeheartedly agree it's superb.

From Daily mail Snippet - Driver Killed with Cruise Stuck-On

Sounds awful..But is a failure of several subsystems.
:Offtopic:
Having read the full newspaper articles, apparently the cars data was interrogated by VAG experts - no faults were found.

the UK has seen similar cases before - blaming stuck cruise on 140MPH speeding tickets , etc.

- + - + - + -

Right - now back to how much we'll miss our twin-airs..!!(y)
