Well after a few months of extremely careful driving, my clumsy side got the best of me and I've scratched my lovely new fiat 500 :( sad that my first post on this forum is so sad, but hi all! Does anyone have any tips on how or where to fix the scratches? It's in the cool mint colour so not as easy as a black or white car (I assume?)

Thanks in advance!

Hello! Firstly, do you know what you scratched against?

Secondly if it is plastic it should be relatively easy, recently our bin men decided to scrape our bins between the side of my 500 and my wall of our driveway, I took it to our local fiat accident and repair and the evaluator who asses what the best course of action is walked up to the car and started rubbing the marks and they disappeared before my eyes [emoji43] I could not believe it, just try and give the marks a rub with your hand quite vigorously that's exactly what he did and then just gave the panel a polish and wax and it's good as new :)! Let me know how it goes! Aarron

This is how it looked before he rubbed it all off! Like his hand was an eraser

Go to your local autoparts shop, buy a paint claying bar and some lube. Read the directions and go for it. Follow up with a cut and polish. A few spots may not come out perfect, but you can cross that bridge when you get to it.

Wow that's amazing! It was the side of a brick arch :s I'll have to give rubbing it a try!

How much do you think that will cost? Thanks so much for
the tips!

I think I'll have to go for this! Thanks everyone for all of your help!

I think where you can see the black, it will be OK and will probably polish out, but where it's showing through white, that looks like it's gone down to the primer, so will probably need a respray.

It's worth keeping an eye on eBay as you often get bumpers of that colour advertised. You can pick up a bumper for less than £100 in perfect condition. Just have to put up with it until you find one in the right colour. There is one on eBay now, but it's in worse condition than yours.

Its a re spray job, you could try a scratch repair service ( that comes to you) like Chipsaway? bank on £300-500

I've contacted chipsaway, just waiting for a quote. Thought it would be cheaper than that as its not a large section, but at least I can be prepared for something like that now! Thanks!

The smallest dings these days you can say £1000 for a dealer/insurance approved repair, which is crazy money, get a few quotes from places that perhaps friends have used?
Someone I know had a small but deep dent in the rear quarter panel, they wrote the car off at 5 years old! easily fixable, it will be bought cat D fixed and sold on for quite a profit?

Given that your car is so new, I would consider it worth spending a bit to get it looking pristine again. If the marks won't polish out, see if you can find a local mobile repairer. I've known a couple of people who have had minor scrapes fixed at their houses or workplace, and the results have been good. Probably cost between £100 and £200, peanuts compared to the value of your car.
