Not really, I've explained why in my previous post ;(y)

Crash data aside, the front airbags are multi stage, so may still contain a live detonation even though deployed, so be very careful!
Thanks for that. If you look at the first picture at the beginning of the post of the MultiECU Scan screen shot it shows driver and passenger Stage 1 and Stage 2. I had wondered what that was, now I know. Cheers.

So it does, I hadn't looked at them originally  so looks like both have already detonated potentially.

Horrible weather yesterday but I got a fair bit done which was no mean feat on my own. A slam panel/radiator/fan etc are difficult to manipulate on your own.

Fitted the new slam panel along with the new chassis extension leg and both top and bottom reinforcement bars. Twas a tricky job, but it's all done now.

I've put the old bumper back on for now, as I am having trouble sourcing a new one. There doesn't seem to be any pattern parts available and the second hand ones are few and far between, but I shall perservere.

I'm having the same problem sourcing a bare door. Most are passenger doors available, and I obviously need a drivers door.

Also installed the new curtain airbag yesterday, which without taking the whole roof lining out is a pain in the backside. Put all the trim back and then last night I thought "oh, I forgot to put the power plug into it", oh well!!

Went to Essex this morning to pick up the airbag kit, so I've got a black dash (to match the S dash in the car) along with the knee, drivers and passenger airbags along with seat belts and pre-tensioners. The only thing I don't have is the coil spring. Not sure I need one of those or not.

Managed to find a pair of door cards from our friends at Club500Italia. They are different to mine, as there are two types of leather on the armrests, so I've bought a pair and will change both.

Below 3 photos. One of the chassis extension arm unbolted ready to pull out and 2 of the new bits fitted and the old bumper back on.

Next week I'll be trying the dash, gulp!

Are you sure, the Bravo has multi stage to the best of my knowledge and has the same airbag unit.

EDIT: seems to be conflicting info on the google, I'll take your word for it as you are the resident Punto Expert :D

I think you're right to question it, I was thinking about it after I posted that above and seem to think I looked into it when changing the steering wheel on my grande.

Basically I think the answer is some are dual stage, I found this one on eBay and note the two connections

Not overly sure what the point is on a punto, more useful on a more intelligent car which monitors things like seat and driver positions like the ford IPS system. I think on the grande, how hard you hit something depends on how much the airbag explodes in your face

Out of interest, does the pretensioner go near the seatbelt reel itself, or is it connected to the buckle?

Can be either depending upon the car, but regarding the 500 it's be answered above. The mk3 Panda for example is in the inertia reel though for example.

Agreed, It must be an age thing regarding the dual stage airbags, perhaps the later ones, when they started using the same steering wheel bag across the range? Who knows lol.

It's connected to the buckle and pulls the cable rearwards, you have to take the seats out to change them apparently

I was just wondering. For some reason, me and a mate were discussing pretensioners once, and he reckoned they were attached to the buckle on all cars, whereas when you see some euro ncap vids, you can see the seatbelt being pulled towards the B-pillar.

Random one but if it stopped hard enough to fully deploy the air bags have you checked the load limiters are OK? Not that would know how, but a 500 has them and in some systems they are effectively single use. You might have but they've not been mentioned in the thread as far as I can see.

Attacked the dash today. I had a bit of a nightmare getting the old drivers airbag out. I eventually did it from around the outside of the old airbag itself rather than from the cowling. I just couldn't figure out how the hell I was supposed to do that.

The Haynes manual and videos on youtube were different, so I guess the USA version (the youtube video) and the older cars are easier to work on the airbag. This car is 2013 S, so it's obviously different. Wasted a good couple of hours with this.

See the picture for how the car is at the moment. I didn't have a long enough reach socket for the final bolt or a 24mm socket for the steering wheel, so I had to give up.

Everything else is removed and unbolted. Labels have been put onto the cables. Screws have either be put into envelopes marked with what they are or taped to the back of trim, so hopefully it will all go back together OK.

Need to get a new socket set tomorrow, then try and get it finished on Sunday.
