Suzey, Hopefully you won't need any oil but the recommendation from the Fiat handbook is;

FLUIDS AND LUBRICANTS

RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS AND SPECIFICATIONS
Use Fluid and lubricant specifications Recommended Change
for correct car operation fluids and lubricants intervals
Lubricants for
petrol engines

SELENIA K P.E.

Lubricants with synthetic base SAE 5W-40 ACEA C3. Qualification
FIAT 9.55535-S2.

Don't forget to allow time for oil to drain back into sump if you have driven it and make sure you are on level ground. (y)

I've never checked it  that's why I'm doing it this weekend

weekly oil checks, lol

I checked my oil level for the first time in approx. 6 months last weekend and the very next time I started the car, it was moaning about needing an oil change. Once it knows you can open the bonnet....

well I checked the oil yesterday and it was about half way between min and max so not bad - I gave it a little bit more to show I love it (y)

Also put more air in the tyres and never checked those either lol

 You are a very bad person! At least your car will think so and re-pay you by eating tyres and having early engine wear ;)

Seriously... check tyres, oil and coolant at least every weekend... it will save you pain and money in the end.. (y)

:yeahthat: and dodgy tyres inc pressures can land you £60 fine and 3 points a tyre! ;)

I got a kit of the Fiat recommended (as in manual) oil, brake fluid and coolant from my Fiat dealer in smallish bottles and it cost about £25. Worth having them to hand incase you need them

I've got a bottle of oil in the boot and a bottle of water ready for whenever I need it :D I am now organised :p

I hope you mean coolant. Water will rust the insides of your 500's engine nicely :) You should always use distilled/de-ionised water if you're mixing your own coolant.

omg I didn't know that - is that really true? I'll have to check them weekly now :p

Yea, hence why I warned you. Can't afford you to get done on all four tyres and face £240 fine and loss of license!

Really

I've just used tap water when mixing coolant during a coolant change in my 10L barrel.

Well it's one of those things that people will disagree with but basically tap water will reduce the effectiveness of the anti-freeze as well as leaving deposits in your cooling system and corroding it as well.

Loads of people will swear by tap water and say that it's absolutely fine though.

I'm amazed that people don't check things more often. Tbh I don't check tyre pressures all that often because I'm forever looking at tyres and it's easy to notice any big changes in pressure just from looking though I do check the pressures every month or so and tbh when a tyre is new and the rim is in good shape there's not much point in checking pressures weekly.
