Need some help please boys and girls---I am in the process of putting my 500 back together having got it back from the body shop. Problem is that, due to all the extra work found to be required when it was at the body-shop, I didn't do all the stripping---and the lad who did has left to go to Uni! What I am struggling to work out is where the speedo cable and the battery POSITIVE cable go through the bulkhead and where they appear in the front compartment. is there any body out there whose car is in a condition where they could photograph (a) the front of the footwell showing me where the cables exit the cabin and, (b) where they enter the fuel-tank compartment.
My car is a RHD 500L. Any help would be appreciated, but before you all start putting pictures on to the forum, I have a problem enlarging the pictures put onto the forum--when I try to enlarge them, the pictures stay the same size and go all dark---can't see bugger all! If somebody could e-mail me direct with the required pictures I would be extremely grateful --- [email protected]

I think your under bonnet needs a tidy up Peter... and don't leave those pliers there or they will bounce around and you may confuse it with some form of suspension knocking...
Also it looks like you have run over a chunk of wood and it seems to be stuck under the front spring :)
Just noticed it looks like one of your brake lines may not be connected so drive slowly....

The brake pipe won't matter too much Peter as he won't be going anywhere fast without his petrol tank :D:D

I would check those lock nuts on your steering arms. Cant see any thread poking out - they are sure to come loose.

Mind you I wouldn't take it out with that much dirt and overspray on the underneath. Shocking:eek:

I think Peter has made a mistake and he's been careless...
He's posted recent pictures... I think Tom caught him out by accident...

Here we all are in admiration of the miles he puts on his little 500 all around those hills of Scotland....

Well.. has anyone ever heard of Photoshop!!!!

Thank you very much Peter for your prompt response--it enabled me to use the afternoon productively and get the fuel tank back in as well as the speedo cable and the positive battery lead. It turned out that the speedo cable orifice (posh name for a hole) had been covered up with tape when they sprayed the inside of the car's front compartment. Seeing your picture gave me the clue I needed to see where it SHOULD be--and it was!
I note your advice as to how to enlarge the pictures put onto the forum; the pictures you put on this time were of a format that I could enlarge, but most of the time the pictures put onto the forum are small in size, and whatever way I try, they just darken when I try to enlarge them--is it something at my end, or is it the format that is used to put them onto the forum? gain, my thanks for your help--much appreciated.

Now that's a proper answer:D:D:D

Most people seem to upload images onto the Forum server which involves clicking the paperclip symbol if using a PC or laptop.
I do it differently by an upload to Flickr and then copy and paste the code to my postings. The problem with this is that they will be lost to the Forum if I delete them or the website I post them to changes its policy or closes down. But the images are of better quality my way.

As for Photoshop, I never use it, none of my photos contain any deception. :D:D:D
