Hi Folks.
It's been suggested that with my 500-F reconditioned / re-bored engine I should put a new clutch in.
I see on the van der Laan site that there are two kits, one Polish, one Italian with the Italian brand more expensive.
Any thoughts about which is better? I'm guessing Italian but worth the difference? 59 - 72 euros.

Tim, I went Polish buts that only because I didn't know what I had bought. Both myself and Peter were a bit concerned as the release bearings on the Polish one seemed to snag on the arm when it was moved back and forth. To the extent that I took the Polish one over to Ricambio in the UK and Franco there showed me the difference between the Italian one and the Polish. He said he didn't sell the Polish ones if he could help it.

Unfortunately I had already fitted the engine and gearbox back in the car with the old clutch bearing from the old Italian plate and the new Polish plate and it didn't work. It transpired the Polish one didn't need to travel as far as the Italian one, therefore it wouldn't have snagged. As I didn't want to remove the engine and gearbox from the car again and risk damaging the new paintwork I opted to split them apart in-situ. That was fun but I managed it.

I would go Italian you can't go wrong with Magnetti Morelli.

Thanks Tony, I guessed that might be the case but wouldn't have known why.
Looking forward to Toshi bringing a camshaft in to NZ, if he can wangle it.
Regards – Tim
