what gas do you run in your cars?
i have a 1964 500 d.
should i be running a lead additive or will 87 unleaded work?

the car is bogging down when i hit the gas. if i get the clutch out and accelerated forward, if i push it down further than just a feather it starts. if i were to push the accelerator to the floor, the car bogs and stalls.

any ideas?

thanks!

sounds like a fuel problem, check the fuel filter is not blocked, air filter could be blocked. Or alternatively you have a fuel mixture problem. may need to strip the carb, may be an air leak.

thanks. i agree. i need to get myself a manual for this thing and start tinkering around.

I had this same problem and decided to take apart the carb. I removed the jet and looked through it. No light coming through! There was a piece of something stuck in there. I sprayed a bit of carburetor cleaner and out it came. Put is all back together and no more bog. Give that a try.

Hi
I had a similar issue.
I rebuilt the carb and had no effect.
In my case I, eventually, traced it to the coil.
Now it runs very well - or did till the dynamo bearing went!
