Meant to start this as a new thread so, sorry if you have read it already/

Responses and comments welcome:

I have been pondering why things are quieter on this forum that I would have expected.

One thing that did occur to me is that our baby is tucked up snug and warm in his cosy garage in this weather, and whilst all the salt is on the roads I would be very reluctant to let him out to play.

I suspect other owners may feel the same?

As our little cars are somewhat prone to the dreaded metal worm, perhaps we cosset them more than most at this time of year.

Hence maybe the reason for the forum being quiet?

I have the usual list of 'must do' jobs for the winter, but on weighing up either sitting in front of the fire and the box with a cuppa or trecking down to an unheated garage armed with tools etc........ nah!

They do seem to have completely overboard on the salt this winter. Obviously it is a little coder than usual, but I have never seen so many cars on the road covered in salt as I have these past two weeks.

I tend to use my 500 everyday all year round, but I have had it resting in the drive for the last 2 weeks as, it has started to get a little rusty underneath, and the last thing I want is a nice acidic coating of pure salt to join the moisture it is already faced with (no garage I'm afraid, and it's too cold to spend time out Waxoyling).

I remember when grit used to be a terracotta like colour, now it seems they are literally using sea salt or the like!

Too right mate!

I have seen a gritter come past our place at least twice each night for the last couple of weeks.

I guess this is the first prolonged cold spell we have had in some years, and I think the local Council is paranoid about getting accusing fingers pointed if they are caught out like they were a couple of years back when a freak snow fall just before rush hour grid-locked Birmingham!
