Hello!

I'm new here, and I want to know if someone could give me some advise about buying a fiat 126 from Poland, what are well known issues and what is the best place to buy one?

PS: I am from the Netherlands.

Thank you in advance,

Joost

Hi there :) There are a few variants of the 126 around. There's the early aircooled ones, then there's the water cooled BIS ones which are a bit rarer (and less reliable) and the final ones made are the 126EL which are a modernised version of the classic aircooled ones which have quite a few cosmetic differences like smoother lines, one piece windows and updated interiors.

In my opinion the classic 126 is the one to have. Their basic enough to work on and are more reliable than the BIS and look a lot better than the EL. Parts avaliblity is great on the aircooled versions (y)

What is the building year of those classic ones? ;) and do you have an idea how to get one from poland

Not sure which is the best way to get one from Poland but if you have a look at allegro.pl (I think?) there's loads of them then I guess once you've bought one you could visit Poland and drive it back. You'll have to sort out the paperwork somehow.

As for years classic ones were made from 1974 to around the early 1990s I think. They went through different bumpers over the years but basically there the same underneath.

BIS (water cooled) were made from 1987 to 1994. If you want one of these there's plenty in Germany and France.

ELs were from the early 1990s to 2000

Go to Fiat 126 forum uk and there will be info on this. Its not to hard to find one but they rust fast in Poland, if you're in the Netherlands go over there and drive one back!

I have a 1997 LHD 126 ELX that I've been welding up for ages and should be ready soon and for sale, maybe a shorter drive for you?

Thanks

Nathan

Having quotes for moving a 126 shell to the UK at the moment... £800. Would have to be a Q plated car in the end though.
