Hi all, I have a Ducato Minibus, seems a silly question but here goes, I am trying to get insurance quotes today and they keep telling me there is no automatic listed as options the insurers can select, does this comformatic gearbox show as a manual then? and can it/should it be selected as a manual on insurance then?

I'm getting diabolical quotes for a 57 year old in London Adrian Flux just quoted me £3700 !

No it is an automated manual gearbox which counts as an auto regarding insurance.

Are you intending to operate it as mini bus with all the seats still fitted?

How many seats?

That could be why insurance so high.

No only want to use it as family vehicle for outings etc, Social use no business, was planning to eventually make a camper from it but will see, it's 16 seats plus driver

Most likely the 16 seats is the main problem.

You may find you can reduce premium by limiting the number of seats , 8 plus driver max will be a start, Or fewer.
Contact a camper van insurance specialist and see if you can get conversion work in progress insurance ?

Let us know

Trouble is I've spent all my funds on repairs/restoration of it (still some to do as yet), so the conversion can't start happen immediately therefore I was thinking of possibly converting it in a year or so, to give me time to save up and in meantime use as family vehicle, any insurers people can recommend that they've got good experience with?

Yes you have had a time of it.

Would it cost much to remove seats so the insurance company know the risk is reduced?

Talking to a camper van insurer with your plans/idea to remove seats won't cost you much.... just the phone call.

I didn't know/recall it is a confortmatic until today.

Is it worth more than you paid to buy and fix now?

It won't cost anything to remove the seats as they're on rails, but I was hoping to make use of all seats with all family and friends going on outings making full use of the vehicle as is for now

Then your insurance is going to be very very expensive

Nice idea though(-:

😉

Hi.
If you wanted to PM me your details I'd be happy to take another look at you details to see why it seems so high.
Regards,
Dan

Yeah when we had the forum minibus, I left all the seats in it and insurance with Adrian flux was around £600.

That was quite a while ago, but still..!
