Technical L- Jetronic ECU Replacement

Does anyone know of a modern replacement for the Bosch ECU ? Somewhere somebody must have done this - a unit that performs all the FI functions in software and hence can be easily monitored and modified.
ANy thoughts????

Would probably be after market like megasquirt or haltech?

There was Bosch motronic fitted to later European models like the tipo and Magneti Marelli I think for the punto mk1 1.6 sporting with the Lampredi engine but they are early systems and not the best.
