Hi all, I'm a new member and happy I found you. (y)

I just finished rebuilding my 82 Fiat 5-speed transmission and thank theLord it works. :) However, even though it shifts find going up the gears, itwants to grind in second and first when down shifting...all others shift downfind. I was told by an expert to us a 20/50 synthetic motor oil so I used RoyalPurple. I just have about 10 miles on it and I have drained it and am puttingin Napa SAE 90 GL-1, in hopes it will help slow the gear down. My thoughts arethe synthetic oil is to slippery.Your thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks,Jerry M

The best thing you can do is put some redline MT90 in the box, it is by far the best oil you are likely to find and will make a world of difference to the shifting. It is rated for ep and non-ep boxes so it won't destroy the gears like other modern oils would.
