Very recently i had my cat converter removed so that i could install a new cherry bomb exhaust. if the cat wasnt removed, the exhaust wouldnt been mounted. The sound she makes is very close to an older 8cylinder Ferrari 308 Quattrovalve. She sounds great! People turn just because they hear the roar of the engine LOL.
NYS Inspection requires CAT CONVERTERS to pass the yearly inspection however due to the age of the car, they no longer require that.
Unfortunately, I do no that driving without a CAT Converter is illegal due to the harmful polluting gasses, and their effect on the atmosphere, but checking for a cat on the x1/9 as low as it is, is nearly impossible without lifting her up.
