I have a 1980 X19, and every so often it dies on me. It seems it might be an electrical problem. I will be driving and all of a sudden the car shuts off. The head lights close, and the engine stops. I will turn the key back and then i will turn it over and the car starts again.

That sounds like the ignition switch itself may be at fault - if the lights close then power to the fusebox has to be maintained. Best bet (imho) is that the "run" wire (switch position II) has a fault.
