1978 Fiat X1/9 4 gear, 1290 with Weber dual float carb marked 22-22 made in Italy Bologne.
(can supply photos if that helps)
OK. Here's the story!
1) Rubber stopper burst - overheated.
2) Got new stopper no problem - finished long journey no problem.
3) NEXT DAY - THEN I had a problem! It didn't fire.
(battery OK, petrol pump OK, spark at ignition coil OK, distributor cap ok)
4) I pulled carb apart but DROPPED NEEDLE VALVE. (yeah OK - clever me!)
I found 2 parts, (3 if you include the square spring for float.. still on the needle)
5)a) I took to Fiat mechanic who discovered that even new spark plugs got wet - FLOODING!
5)b) He adjusted float quite a few times, even at minimum flow position, STILL FLOODED.

QUESTIONS:
1) How many parts to a needle valve (describe please?)
2) Anything else cause flooding?
3) Would taking spark plugs out for a few days help.
i.e. Can it dry out then simply go as easy as ever.
4) Anything else you can think of?
5) CAN ANYONE SUPPLY NEEDLE OR CARB KIT PLEASE?
International Auto Parts referred me to Pierce Manifolds who don't list such a low number.
6) Ideas for substitute carburetor please?

PLEASE HELP.

Bill
