X1/9 1500 ccm stock engine specs needed!

I've tried, and still trying to find detailed specs of stock engine type 128AS.000... Need for checking tunning abilities of engine.

Engine 1499 ccm
85hp at 6000 rpm
117,6 Nm (12 kGm) at 3200 rpm

Thx a lot!

Re: X1/9 1500 ccm stock engine specs needed!

From my Bertone handbook:

Type 138AS.000 (Note: 138, I suspect that 128 would be the 1290cc)
No. of cylinders Four, in-line :-)
Bore x stroke 86,4 x 63,9 mm
Capacity 1498 cm3
Compression ratio 9,2 to 1
Maximum torque 118 Nm (12kgm) at 3200 rev/min
Maximum power (DIN) 62,5 kW (85 HP) at 6000 rev/min

Valve gear
Valve position Overhead
Operation Overhead camshaft
Drive Toothed belt
Inlet opens 24 B.T.D.C.
Inlet closes 68 A.B.T.C. (I suspect this is supposed to be A.T.D.C.?)
Exhaust opens 64 B.B.D.C.
Exhaust closes 28 A.T.D.C.

Tappet clearance
For timing check Inlet 0.60mm Exhaust 0.65mm (I suggest to ignore these!)
Normal (cold) Inlet 0.45mm Exhaust 0.60mm (Exhaust seems large, 0.50?)

Fuel System
Air cleaner Paper element
Carburettor Twin-choke downdraught, automatic cold starting device
Type WEBER 34 DATR 7 Carburettor cooling fan controlled by thermal switch
Anti-pollution aids P.C.V. system, Co limiter (I would like to know what the
Co limiter is!)

Lubrication system
(Note: elsewhere the handbook says the engine oil capacity is 4,5L (4kg) of 15W/40)
In fact I'm going to skip the Lubrication System and Cooling System sections; there is really nothing useful mentioned, apart from the fan cut-in temp. being 92C +/- 2C.

Ignition System
Firing order 1-3-4-2
Static advance 5 B.T.D.C.
Centrifugal advance 23
Contact point gap 0,40 +/- 0,03mm
Spark plugs
- Type Champion RN 7 Y, Marelli CW 78 LPR, Bosch W R 6 D, FIAT 1 L 45 UR
- Thread size M14 x 1,25
- Electrode gap 0,7 to 0,8 mm

...yes, I do have a sad life (having time to type that out!) but maybe there is something in there that will be useful? In particular the timing seems easy to forget (off the top of my head I would have said 10) and it's good to know the correct plug heat range (Champion '7' rather than the '9' I would have expected).

Re: X1/9 1500 ccm stock engine specs needed!

Thanks a lot Alex!

Yes, this engine is 138.AS.000 too, I have mistaken a bit while surfing some other sites and looking different data... Beleive me it will be usefull, becouse we are planning to upgrade this little devil up to 140HP (if possible)... For now I'm just consalting with tuners...

I need one more info: LENGHT OF PISTON ROD (stock engine)???

Thank you million!

Re: X1/9 1500 ccm stock engine specs needed!

killaz,

Ooooh... I don't have that one, sorry.
I can only tell you that the crankpin diameter is 45.498 - 45.518mm, the piston pin (gudgeon pin) is 21.991 - 21.994 OR 21.994 - 21.997mm (depending on piston grade) and the connecting rod itself has a big-end diameter of 48.630 - 48.646mm, a small-end diameter of 24.016 - 24.041mm. It then has a bush fitted to reduce the diameter to 22.004-22.007 OR 22.007-22.010.

All of this is not what you want to know - you will have to get someone to actually measure the length. All other specs above are the same as for the 1290cc engine, so perhaps you will be able to use the rods from the 1290cc - for whatever you are trying to do :-)

Thumbs up Re: X1/9 1500 ccm stock engine specs needed!

Yup, one forum member gave mi info that engines 1372ccm/158Xccm have the same piston rods, but problem is I don't have one to measure, (becouse we are still in theoretical calculations)... For now we determined that engine with 1498ccm can be tuned to 118hp at 7028rpm + few HP with larger carb...(most important, without any problems with duration of engine, call it safe way).

So if anyone has the data regarding to lenght of piston rod, please paste?
(It is needed to determine stagnation of piston in GMT, how many degrees...)

Thanks!

In your first message you said you wanted specs for engine 128AS.000 with 1499ccm but my Haynes manual says the 1499ccm is 138AS.00. In any case I have a set of crower rods I had made for a 1290ccm car and the spec sheet says C to C is 4.92 in. Hope that helps.

Re: X1/9 1500 ccm stock engine specs needed!

A company called "pauter engineering" makes really nice rods for Fiat 1.5 sohc and 2.0 twin cams (amongst other stuff)

They list the rod length as 5.050" (128.27mm) for 1.5, I measured a set at 128.25, so I guess I was pretty accurate

4.92" is for a 1.3/1.1 engine (124.968mm... lets say 125mm)

pauters website

http://www.pauter.com/exotica.htm

this takes you to the page with Fiat stuff......
