Removing Gas Tank

I think I need to clean out the gas tank and I wonder if someone
who has done this (recently) could tell me the best way to attack the problem? I know the car has to be r4aised quite a ways ( no lift in sight). Is it likely I can jack the car up high enough from the left
side to lower the tank out?
TIA
Mark

That is the only way to get the tank out....

I have done this a few times and it is easier than I first thought. It is a lot easier to do with the tank empty...

If the car is driving, drive it up on ramps... both on the left side.
Remove the fuel line and sending unit connections from the top.
Raise the left side of the car almost 2.5 to 3 feet off the ground.
Remove the straps and slowly lower the tank...
The tank leans top towards the rear of the car and it helps to move the bottom of the tank towards the front of the vehicle as you are lowering it...

Very easy... just remember to be SAFE!!! the car is not very stable lifted like this.... you know how well the E-brake works....

Thanks for the help Eric. Last time I pulled an X1/9 tank was
'84 I think when I was building my race car and I think I raised
it from the back with ( a big no no ) blocks on top of the jack.
