I keep on buying wiper blades for the front screen and they hardly last. Drove in the rain tonight and the screen was smeared the whole length of the blade. The blades -Bosch, only last ~1 month. With my old Uno they'd last all winter. What's going on? Is it the blade - It doesn't look worn out and it's got that wind fin to supposedly keep the blade on the screen. The first 3 or 4 uses the blade's perfect then its rapidly down hill.

is your screen covered in wash and wax? try cleaning screen with washing up liquid and the green bit of the washingup sponge, i find i have to do this after every time i use a car wash because they use wash and wax in them, the wax stops the water running off properly. also get your wipers from poundland.

4dog, exactly the same problem! My old wiper was awful and when it broke off (quite funny really!) we bought a really nice Bosch one which did really well for the first 2 weeks then it started smearing again (the new one smeared but it smeared so thinly that it disappeared after about 0.2 seconds which was great!). I tried what Dave had said, using every possible method I knew of to clean it but didn't work, so just have to assume that it's the best I can get it - not perfect with some smearing but will put up with it.

Last year I changed the wiper blade on the front window 6 times. Yes, every 2nd month. Even tried one with teflon. All just crap, until I bought "Hella". It's been on for 6 months now, and is still going strong. The cheapest one as well - at least in Norway.
