Just been and bought this little beauty off another ff member (SteveNZ) just thought i'd post it up as another UnoT owner.
Needs a good clean and got a new bumper for the front but until they go on here she is.... (y)
oh and the standard wheels are on it at the mo, may change them but think they cool kinda cool as is. Skirts etc are back on too.
Proper pics to follow after the weekend when it's been fully polished and cleaned!

They are Tipo wheels not uno turbo wheels...

Looks nice though.

Ah right, i like tipo wheels, esp when there painted anthracite...

How come you took them off ?

Going for the standard look are you.

I'm a bit surprised, since that means Steve no longer has a really 'good' FIAT... only that Tipo Turbo mongrel! ;)

Strangely enough, the standard font on NZ numberplates has been changed since Steve bought those... standard plates are now more like those...

Not sure where they're getting this 'EURO-FONT' thing from, I've been to Europe and can't remember seeing any plates like ours... I think it's more like the plates in the USA.

Of course the English might find all this a little puzzling; basically, our number plates are only allowed to come from one place! I don't think that Steve's are technically legal, but they are unlikely to be a problem in practice :) There isn't the 'aftermarket' remanufacturing of plates that occurs in England.

I'm sorry, but after owning it for one night and driving it for no reason whatsoever around and aournd and around all i can say is
WOW!
I've sold Impreza WRX's, driven Golf Git's (sorry Gti's!) and this is just pure and simple fun to drive.
And that turbo Steve, OH MY GOD I ALMOST KILLED MYSELF!
Cheers for the car, i love it to bits already!
Cut and Polish on monday and the front end sprayed and she'll be perfect for what i want! (y)

i'll be round for the front bumper too on sunday night, get that fitted on monday too after she's been polished up.
it'll fit ok into the back of it wont it?!
Is there any other way of decreasing the lag on it then steve?
As great as it is (and it'll prob stop the wear on the turbo as it never seems to fully boost due to the rev limiter cutting in!) i think it does need some of the lag taking away.... only thing is how? new intercooler  (expensive maybe?!)

Steve has your old mk2 got the 15-R turbine or did you swap it in the end with the 12?

Tom

I picked that turbo for racing around a track. Its perfect for that. Bit laggy for the street. It takes quite a while but you do get use to it, you cant expect it to go hard when you put your foot down in 2nd gear at low RPM. It needs a smaller turbine housing to reduce the lag which is a dig deal now. Mk2 has taller gearing than a Mk1. I was going to fit a mk1 box which would make a big difference IMO, It wont reduce lag, but it would mean boost would come on at a lower speed in each gear. The gear would run out faster too but I dont think that would be a big deal.

If you have not already seen it, here is the full story on the turbo.

Oh and Alex, if you feel you need more power, there are a few options on making a hybrid out of that one you bought.

Tom

It has a 15R with the 9 blade turbine ( I think the same as yours) Anything smaller gets difficult

I spotted your comment (y)
So you haven't stripped it for parts... that's good to know... and obviously you're now ready for another hybrid-turbo project, I can sense the itchy hands after letting your Uno go!

I presume that I have the elusive 12R wheel?
Pity that much of this is beyond my comprehension - I haven't a clue what you mean by 'trim' ;)

I don't really NEED it for my Uno Turbo, and I doubt that it would improve on the incredible blend of some-performance with amazing-economy :)

Its my understanding that the 'trim' is a ratio value between the exducer and inducer of a wheel.
