General Fiat Uno Turbo Mk1 Restoration Project Woo!

Hey Frosty. What did you do with your hormann front MK1 bumper buddy?
I think I might need one... heh

Yeah you could well be right about that T25, in that case it's a T28 but I don't see me going upto a T3. But on high boost the IHI was holding really well, over 0.7bar at silly speeds! reckon it would've gone on to nearly 135mph @ 1.0Bar.

Fair play with the silver. Certainly is unique but I've always opted for black. When it's dark and shiny with lightly smoke tinted windows it'll be a good "descrete cruiser" type racer...

Gorgeous, ain't they? Gonna try on some blackies real quick and see if she likes em. if she can deal with it then gonna look for one lucky buyer. =)

Sold, sold, sold to me of course.... I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE......

The T28 would be less laggy than a T3 and better suited for top end mate, as for the hormann bumper i still got it but its damaged, easily repairable though. Didnt fit the bumper on my car as i dont like the huge gap it leaves between the headlights and bumper as its a mark 1 bumper and mark 2 lights are smaller than mark 1s etc and the bumper would need to be made smaller to line up with mark 2 wings as well. As for the colour yeh mate you cant go wrong with black and i bet when its finished it'll turn heads everywhere (y)

hmm. what kind of damage? mine's got 2 holes cut out of it, numberplate recess done all wrong... and it's cracked right down the right hand side

What kinda price would you want? :)

I know you're really aching for a Mk2 Hormann bumper. heh

I think you should hit up the specialists for some wheel spacers. Middle Barton Garage springs to mind. I think wheel spacers are legal in your part of the world (not legal here), and that's what you need to make those wheels look more purposeful. It looks ridiculous having them 'within' the arches like that ;)

Otherwise, looks like things are going well!
Sounds like you have a good arrangement with your welder and his 'teas' - how very English... over here it would be six-packs of Speights! Hope you've fought the rust to a standstill.

Rust's being fought :)

Lucky I'm not going for the Sedicis, but you're right, some spacers could make it look good. Still, I think the kit is a bit too rounded to suit those wheels. Here are some pictures of the car in the garage with the TSW wheels on it, bumpers and some bodykit, this was just before welding.

I think that if you take ur time and do this project up properly then the out come will be great, after all you have the best welder on it lol (y)

Yeah. who doubles as someone who copies the way my UT was 4 months ago, apart from makes it red. =)

Exactly the same mate. Not even kidding.

Red/clear lights, exhaust, 1.0BAR, K&N filter, wheels, suspension (aha, soon to come on yours!! I'm too fast for you!! Too fast for you!!)

Na it will look mean, and we'll be cruising in style when it's done... or racing to the death. whatever =)

Pretty much set on selling my Rover, as when November comes around i'm 19, and I'd've had a year's driving experience. Roll on 300 quid excess for Uno over Rover. That's almost affordable, so I'm really thinking about accelerating the Uno's progress.

Argh matey!

Alright mate. Call it 20 quid not this weekend but the next. This one's complicated and still not gotten the (now) ex's car out the garage, so I can't work on the Uno yet.

Yeah mate, told you I was busy the previous night... arguing and ****.

I don't want kids until i'm very, very mature. The base of all serious arguments, eh?

How's your UT going; sprayed the bootlid with halfords' finest, yet?

Not spraying it untill it goes in the spray shop no point in painting it if the whole car is getting sprayed

OK guys!
Current on the Uno:
Welding's done on the drivers' side sill, car's stripped ready for other welding.
Floorpan is on Sat 4th and possibly Passengers' wheelarch widening. Drivers' side wheelarch is Sat 11th Nov.
'course these are all expected dates, nothing's set in stone as for yet.

Pictures of welding sill to UT that were done...

Saturday 14th October - Uno in the garage, stripped, ready to weld to!

Getting a move on, huh?
Next I've got images of the triple sub box enclosure and Hormann-arched wings to take and update soon.

Targets when build complete:
>260bhp/tonne
0-62mph in 5.80s
0-100mph in 11.40s

This must be on standard road tyres on a dry track...
because these are the same figures as another popular italian car...

...and I want these mirrors. In black, of course.

Can anyone estimate to how much power i'd need to acheive those figures?

I'm guessing 230bhp would make the 1st one on a good day, and 0-100mph in 11.4 would be... down to gearchanges? :)

Or maybe it'd make it easier if I said I wanted a dead on 14 sec 1/4 mile

Looking good mate, did you paint that sill in the paint i gave you ??? that needs to be done if not..
Ill be down next weekend to weld the floor pan and cut them rear arch's out then it's all up to you to get the kit on and every thing else on..
Looking good thou matey and if i was u i'd start getting that kit on the drivers side or at least the side skirt and the drivers wing mould...
Im likin it thou mate, got a long way to go but the out come should be great....Get out there and find a job money always helps

Mate the ex's car is still in the garage.

I told her I'd have it crushed into a really really small cube if she didn't take it on monday... I can't job it down here, but my dad's new place in london has a front drive..!

So if I lived in london, I could trail the car up there on the A roads and work on it outside the house... 'course I'd like the bodywork to be done first.

I haven't brushed that stuff on, no.

Can't do any work while that detrement to society, waste of a life ex, of mine's car is still in there.
