My window keeps falling down into the door casing. Its quite easy to fix but keeps happening. Has anyone else had this problem and what can I do to fix it permanently?
Thanks.

sounds like the little plastic "winged" bolt thingy holding the pane on to the runner has snapped,

will need to take of the door card (easy, just undo all screws around door handle, and lower pocket, pop off door lever srround, and ease away from door) then there should be a membrane over the metal frame, peel that off, and the window mechanism should be exposed.

be careful here, the metal door frame is quite sharp, and cuts are easy to get

wind down the window so you can see the horzontal bit the glass pane rests on, in the middle should be a white plastic plug, on the other side should feel the 2 wings popping out, holding it in place. the pane should be a tight fit into the runner it rests on, and can be hard to move.

if the plug is broken, pop it out, replace with another one (should be pennies from a dealer/scrappy) and replace all the door trim

voila! btw this worked on my tub with electric window, feel free to modify for non tub windups(y)

Thanks for that. Printing out your reply and will go see what the score is.

I agree with Alex's sugestion. Thats how I have always fixed that problem. Has the side effect of making the window easier to remove since those plastic clips are a pain in the ass to undo (without cutting yourself on the door).

One modification to Alex's plan is to use R clips (I think thats what they are called, they have a straight pin with a curly bit that holds it in place).

It is also useful to wind some self-vulcanizing rubber tape (hope it makes sense - a tape that is not very sticky when applied, but hardens to solid rubber. I believe its primary application is waterproof sealing and insulation of electric HV cables) between the glass and the pin. It reduces the crashing noise when you close the door.
