Soooo.... I was taking a peek around my local scrappy the other day, when what do I see, but a "new" (i.e. recently added to the yard) mk2 uno, complete with original foglamps! Figured it was probably an S or SX but on closer inspection I realised the badge said "45" so I figured it must have been an earlier mk2 (later ones are usually labelled as 1.0 i.e.), and the fogs were added to it. Also had Hobby marked on the rear wing.

Took a look inside, at which point I realised that the car was left-hand drive, which is hardly common around Belfast. Then noticed that there was no button for the front foglamps on the centre console... curiouser and curiouser! When I took a closer look at the lamps I realised they weren't even plugged in, the leads were cable-tied to the frame under the bonnet!

So I managed to get them out anyway, along with the housings that screw onto the bumper. Ah yes, and the bumper too -- it was body-colour (metallic maroon) and the housings had a little body-colour spray in them, so I figure the fogs were just added, holes were cut out of the bumper and the unit was resprayed for the look -- and it did look good, apart from the dents all over and the wrecked toyota stacked on its roof :D

So anyway, a few questions related to all this, sorry for the long post! Firstly, are fog lamps directional? i.e. does it matter that I've taken a set off a left-hand drive car, are they still legal/safe to fit onto a right-hand drive?

Secondly, the wiring of fogs on the Uno.... I had my Haynes manual to hand and am almost certain that this uno actually had the correct relay for the front fogs; the casing was bright blue in colour, on a yellow clip attached to the right-hand side of the fusebox, and was the only thing that wasn't on my own fuse box, when I compared the two. I also noticed that there were actually unused connectors sitting behind the headlights, which fit the connectors on the fogs and which my car doesn't have.

So it seemed this Uno had all the wiring for fog lamps, but no way to turn them on! ...I took the relay and cut off the connectors and grabbed them too, got the lot for £10 (y). But what does anyone reckon on the wiring of these? Did this uno come with all the required wiring for the foglamps, but they just weren't plugged in and a switch wasn't added?

Nice one, thanks Steve. I've now got hold of the relay I took out of the broken Uno -- has numerous things printed on it, namely:

A 719075
DOT
12V 42/92W
387.10 A727
FIAT LANCIA

So I guess that's 42W input 92W output or something? This sound right for the front fogs relay?
