My down pipe connection with the middle pipe was blowing a bit so I turned the nut a few turns for it to snap off the bolt.
Got a price of £60 just for the part with fitters wanting over a £100 to supply and fit.
Since I am very tight when it comes to my uno I am planning on taking the pipe off and cutting the bolt then drilling it out to replace it with an ordinary bolt and nut.
Any tips views as to this?
Have to wait until the rain stops anyways.

I like the way you decribed that!
A bit like, "Seeing rust bubbles in the sill, I decided to use a screwdriver to create some fist-sized holes and make the bodyshell a write-off" - which I did once.

As for bolt/nut in place of the stud, it's exactly what I've seen done before. Angle-grind off, drill out, etc. Provided you have three fixings, it should be fine. You can probably get away with an M6 bolt (10mm bolt head, which IIRC fits in between the pipes better). I use 'Maniseal' to put the connection together - not sure if you have that paste in England, might be similar to 'Gun Gum'.

Cheers Alex
Update taken it off and found large hole on the weld so along with my previous patchwork it is fooked.
After pricing around got a new one for £38 supplied which is not too bad.
So took the plunge and have now doubled my cars value.
