There was one particular variant of uno that had the twin choke carb though im sure of it :) maybe the old uno 60 - with teh 1116 engine?

maybe, but i'm sure there was uno with twin carb (weber 30/32 DMTE)

i'm going to fit twin carb from 125p to my uno 1.0
but first i'must finish uno turbo....

That looks excellent! Any more info on how it was achieved? I wonder if any more work was done on the engine to get the speedo running almost off the end?!!!!

Alex is right, it was only the older 1116cc non-FIRE ohc engine that had a twin choke Weber fitted (Uno 60S). The FIRE to my knowledge never had a twin choke carburetor fitted as standard.

It can be done, but you'll need to have a custom inlet manifold made up, plus possibly a custom throttle cable.

I have a twin choke Weber from a 1.3 Uno. Wonder how much work it would take to get it to fit my 1.0 litre FIRE? :chin:

well you can maybe fit 1100 bike sidedraughts, but dunno if it's gonna work.

you can just get an adaptor piece made to make that carb fit on the fire engine. I wanted to put a 1400 uno carb on, but didn't have the time yet.

what about fitting 4 carbs?
any one tryed it b4?

Have done it to the race Panda. We used 2 twin 36 Weber downdraught carbs on the 1242. But they need to be down throated a bit.

Forget motor bike carbs. They are too difficult to set up and you won't find a lot of people who can do it.

A few people have converted FIRE engines to twin choke carbs.

Wonder how they did that converting an engine into a carb???,maybe I got the sentence all wrong.

Yes, you're right of course :)
The Uno 60 1116cc and 70 1301/1299cc both had the twin-choke carbs (Weber 30/32 DMTE or the agricultural-looking but smooth-running and reliable (in my experience!) Solex C32)

Neither of these carbs will fit the FIRE engine unless you make up a manifold adapter. And, in these days of fuel injection, I just don't think it's worth the bother!

To prove how sad an individual I am, I can tell you that I once connected to the 'net and ended up at the MSN home page (browser default). Lead news article: "Are Carbs Really Bad?" Why yes, I thought, fuel injection is more accurate and reliable any day. Little did I know the article contained dietary advice.

As for the AWESOME work on that Mk1 Uno - I laughed out loud when I saw the oval white dials! - yes, they must have raised the gearing somehow I think to get the speedo that far around with the engine not even at the end of the redline... my Uno 60 used to run off the tach with it's 128-Coupe camshaft.

Twin carbs are definitely more worth the trouble than fitting an (old, worn-out) twin choke Weber, in my opinion. My 128 Coupe actually started easier and ran more economically with its twin DNCFs than with the original twin-choke carb.

One other thing - though it may not be a major drawback (I've seen engines running OK with them) - most carbs for RWD cars like the 125p have the float chambers oriented differently so that the fuel will not surge during cornering. Turn them 90-degrees and put them on a transverse engine, and you may just have problems. I know of a 128 with IDFs fitted that didn't run very nicely on the track because of this fuel surging. I think you're best off with the DCOEs or the DCNFs.
