Hey everyone,

I am looking for information about the tyres that were fitted to the standard model UNO's as I am currently in the process of a light restoration of a 1987 Selecta. The tyres on the car are believed to be fitted from new which are Firestone S-211 155/70 SR13 75 S. The car was first registered on 30th October.

All 4 are perished and are cracking around the sidewalls so I would like to know if there was a specific brand of tyre that these cars were fitted with and if so, is there any of the original type available?

I want to be able to maximize the value of the car after I've done it up. If a car has everything OEM fitted to it, including the same brand of tyre then surely it would be more appealing to a collector?

If this isn't something of great concern then I will just go ahead and fit any good brand of tyre. I was just wondering if there was a specific tyre brand that the cars were built around in order to improve the originality.

Unless your going for a full on concorse standard restoration and that can go down as far as having oem fixing bolts I don't think the brand of tyre's as long as they are decent will be of any concern
Anyway the tyre's fitted from the factory often vairy throughout the production run of the car

The Uno 55S I bought new in 1985 had Firestone tyres fitted. Other Fiats I remember of that era had Pirelli and Michelin tyres fitted as standard. I think choice is now a bit limited anyway for 13 inch wheels. I am thinking of going for Goodyear or Dunlop as replacements on my 1992 Selecta which still has an original Michelin on the spare wheel. Sadly no longer available or I would go for those.

Thanks, everyone. That's really helpful information. Seeing as it won't be too much of a big deal I may well go ahead and fit any good brand of tyre. Just like Iggy64, the two best tyres I've found were Goodyear and Dunlop and because I can get 10% off Goodyear tyres at Kwik Fit I will buy those. They also do free mobile fitting which is what I need as I have yet to insure the car.

If anyone is interested the code is GOODYEAR10 and it's displayed on the website once you choose the tyre sizes.

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate your knowledge.

Thanks for the tip JOnny G. Have ordered a set for both my Uno and X1/9! The 10% offer was supposed to finish yesterday but code still worked this afternoon. I saved nearly 70 quid over the two cars compared to the best price I could get from other local fitters for the same tyres. Have booked a home fitting appointment for next Sunday so fingers crossed.

You're welcome, my friend. Now I've got the tyre fitting sorted it's now the task of fixing the fault with the alternator or the wires and then it'll be ready for an MOT.
