When Im driving along my brake lights are staying on, im presuming this is the brake light switch that is either disconnected or faulty. I have recently had the whole dash out of the car so that may be one of the causes why the brake lights are staying on all the time. Was just wondering if anyone has a rough idea or how much the switches are to buy?

:)

No idea for sure, but it shouldn't be expensive. It's just a simple plastic switch connected to the brake pedal.

Have a look and make sure yours isn't stuck. Maybe some WD40 will help if it is. Also disconnect the two wires and see if the brake lights are still stuck on. If they are, then the fault lies in the wiring. If they aren't but come on again when connected to the switch then the switch itself is at fault.

I would guess that the switch would cost about £5, maybe a bit more. However, if you go to a scrapyard you can probably get one for next to nothing, or even free if you buy something bigger and pinch a switch at the same time (ahem!)

Best of luck!

Ok thanks for the help, i'll look into it before I buy a switch and take it from there!

Had a look at the switch today and it was just disconnected so reconnected it and it is fine now! (y)
