Technical Gear Shifter Linkages HELP

Hi guys,
The bushings on my mk1 Uno 45's shifter went a few weeks ago and I have been waiting for the parts to come in the post. Yesterday I spent a lot of time banging my head and getting oil on my face underneath trying to fit the bushing onto the joint where it belongs but it would not go on. I have tried using a lot of grease and a G Clamp. I feel as if there is some sort of cheat way to do this as It seems far too difficult.

Any advice would be appreciated as I told my partner it would be an easy fix:bang:

I took the whole lot off and used a vice, doesn't take long. Don't put the gearstick on backwards...

hmm, in what order did you put the bushings in? did you put it inside the lever first then onto the ball joint or did you force it all in at once. Really makes me wish I had very strong hands hahaah. I think I will get a bigger G clamp and try that for now.
