my car is only a 903cc 455 hp jobbie ... but iw as wodnering if there were any ways on making it faster ... i mean at low speeds its actually VERY nippy - keeps pace with dads 1600 vauxhall but at hight speeds its pretty crappy any info on making it faster - cheaply and without making uinsurance higher

You can adjust timing a bit but it would give you more speed or more power depends on what advancements you adjust it.

You could get a faster car?

Realisticly the fastest you are ever going to get an Uno to go is about 130mph (without doing extensive modifications to the engine and suspension).

The best you can expect from a 903cc Uno is about 75 or 80mph. Mayby 90mph with lots of mods.

edit: I just realised that this is a seriously OLD post thats been revived :) silly me.....

For future reference:

Colour coded stripes down the side or top of your vehicle does actually increase speed by about 10%.

This has something to do with areodynamics and the stripes acting as a aeroplane wing, cutting through the air, lifting the vehicle, thus making it lighter, thus making it go faster.

"That's scientific fact. There's no real evidence for it, but it is scientific fact."

And I doubt if the original poster still even has their Uno ;)

Exactly :)
He's probably moved on to a Subaru Impreza WRX STI Super-D Type 3 or whatever it's called. I'm sure when he had the gearbox solenoid valves replaced, or the cambelts replaced, he probably remembered the Uno fondly. :p

"but at high speeds it's pretty crappy" - that's a function of having a 903cc engine. Think of all the fuel economy and low running costs that you get instead. After a while you realise that it's so much easier to get more performance by buying a faster car - not by considering modifications.

As James points out, you don't actually want an Uno to do more than 130mph anyway - it's frightening enough at 120mph

Too right Alex, theres nothing like the feeling of your car tracking the road at high speed :) and just when you think the high speed is getting too scary, you encounter braking at high speed

On another note, its a well known scientific fact that BIG spoilers make your car go faster and helps them preform better at low speeds... Most people think that spoilers create drag which slows your car, BUT it's scientifically proven that the drag created actually pushes your car faster :) The best material for making one of these huge spoilers is cardboard, because its cheap and light....

Other 'saving weight to go faster' methods may, or may not include :

1. Only driving at least 24 hours after your last meal.
2. Only driving at most 24 mins after your last number 2.
3. Drive naked (may require the installation of privacy glass!).
4. Attempt to restrict all journeys to downhill roads.
5. Ensure any passengers lay on floor, to avoid putting extra weight on seats (they should also follow steps 1-3 above).
6. Pour a maximum of 1L fuel into tank, and refil from 50L fuel container stored in boot, as needed (For maximum benefit, combine with step 4).
7. Revove all brakes, and only drive in unpopulated areas (For maximum life expectancy, DO NOT combine with step 4!).
8. Trim finger/toe nails and hair prior to driving (subjects of step 5 should also do this).

Ok, sorry. Was feeling in a stupid mood! But hey, I didn't go off subject anyway :)

haha no way my brother had 85 out of his and it was bog standard with no mods and still had loads of go in it and it was a 903cc dunno where you got that info from mate lol

it doesnt work it was proven on tv

HAHA!!!! this is the funnies thread I've ever come across :D

I'm sorry guy's but i have to tell him.

George, I'm letting you in on something here, keep it hush hush, only for this forum you know.

IT'S ONLY PAINT/VINYL LOL! we all know it does nothing to a cars aerodynamics so why are you arguing about it lol.

Chas, what more can i say.. your a f*~king legend haha :slayer: and Ucof for starting it :p

Sorry but i felt sorry for George, it felt unsettling seeing you take advantage of his ... erm, arrogance? lol

I had 103MPH on the clock of my D reg Uno 45 Formula (903cc)

It was completely standard, going down hill with the wind being me a fair few years ago :D

:chin: Hang on.. there was a mod I never realised I done till now

I uprated from single to double line go faster stripe.

Isn't that way more than 10%? or is it the sum of 10% X 10% (2 lines on both sides).

See I only slowed down as I caught up with the car infront. Plenty more to go :D
