Please help. My Fiat Uno 2004 model is fitted with a 32TLF 253 manual choke carburetor. It has 226 800km on the clock. I have experienced jurking and engine cutting out with and decided to fit a new carburetor kit. The problem is that the fuel in the carb reservior does not get fed to the engine. It appear that there is some kind of blockage but I cant find it. I have check all the jets and they are clean and in order.

when it doesnt start check if you have spark with an old spark plug, perhaps it may not even be fuel ?

Firstly you need to check theres no sediment or blockages in the fuel reservoir.

Check that when you refitted the carb, you set the float correctly, it works like a toilet cistern, the float rises till there is enough fuel in the chamber, then a metal tag by the float hinge cuts the fuel supply.

Also check the pin that goes through that hinge is positioned correctly & not bent, & did the rebuild kit come with the needle valve that the float acts on? make sure that valve is not sticking.

1st check fuel in tank.

2nd check fuel pump is pumping fuel , if you don't know how ask.

3rd make sure fuel being pumped to carburettor .

4th with air filter removed look into carb' and operate accelerator lever, you should see squirt of fuel going in from accelerator pump.

5th report back on this forum.

the fuel reservoir in carb' is called the float bowl.

did you replace the whole carb' with a new unit or fit new parts?

Is your car fitted with a vapour separator between fuel pump and carb' ?

Is there a anti run on solenoid on your carb with an electrical connector on it?
