Hi,
As some of you may know i am taking part in the Lombard Revival Rally this year, in short it is a 1250 mile / 4 day rally covering much of the country. As this is a low-scale event, we are not allowed any support teams or back-up crews. So we have to carry any spares we may need along the way.

So how can you help ?????

We are allowed to buy sapres as needed from 'bone-afide' garages (there is no definition of of this in the rules, so any petrol statio will do.)

What i am looking for is anyone who is willing to provide me with their mobile phone number (via PM). So that if were are not carrying the spare we need we could phone you up to see if you have such a part. Hopefully i won't need to phone anyone, but covering over 250 stage miles there is a chance something may break or i may break something.

Please note i will NOT use you number is anyway other than to ask for parts support, i DO NOT wanting anyone following us as this is not allowed. And after the evnt i will remove all these numbers from my phones memory. If you do send me your number via PM, please outline any times you would NOT want to be phoned as this event involves not much sleep, ie driving all day anfd much of night up to 12-midnight.

The basic route of the event is Oxford to Chester via Silverstone, Rockingham, Nottingham (city centre stage at 4pm Friday), then from Chester to Newport, then the last day is Newport to the top of Wales.

The dates of the event are Thursday 24th Nov to Sunday 27th Nov.

Please do not feel obligied to take part, i won't be offended. If you want more info then visit http://www.siteset.co.uk/endurance/index.html

Thanks in advance for any help given.

OK guys its less than a week away, in fact we start on Thursday. There is more event information on the website (link above).

However the offers of help haven't been over whelming, if your thinking of helping out in whatever small way possible then please do it. The event timings are out now and the latest we will be running is 10pm so no late night call now :)

Even if you don't want to help out, you can support by coming out to spectate (free entry and parking :) ) would be great to see some other Uno's out and about.

Also those not able to come out you can follow my and the event results at the event website.

Any questions either post on here or PM me.

Thanks in advance for any help given.

Cheers

Car 101 - Lombard Revival Rally 2005

Didn't want to risk messing up the ignition wiring by fitting the tacho, nice easy winter project job to be done over Christmas :)

Finished 50th O/A out of 94 finishers and 6th in class of 10 starters in the 1 litre class.

Car didn't skip a beat, only problem is a knocking noise from the NS fron strut, and only four days to fix it before the toughest road rally in the country. At least this one only last one night not over five days - F**KING knackered now, driven over 1700 miles in 5 days, driven stages in radnor, sweet lamb forests, in the snow and ice !!!!

Thanks to the guys who offered their support.

Cheers

Matt

Must have been a lot of fun...

But, pray, tell me - I noticed you have the cold air intake hose bent back - why is that? Do you want to prevent dust/dirt clogging your air filter?
The reason I am asking this (maybe somewhat foolish) question is that I heard some seriously-meant opinions about
a) so called "sporting filters" increasing bhp considerably and
b) the airflow taken from the top side of the bonnet at speeds exceeding 80 km/h is supposed to act like a - sort of - turbo.
One would expect that every fraction of bhp counts when it comes to racing, but your solution seems to negate these opinions...

Do you think they are only superstitions?

Air in-take is from the same area as the air vents for the inside of the heater/car. Try opening the cold air vents at speed and you'll notice the force of the air flowing in. So this should create a sort of 'ram-air' effect, got to try for every little bit.

However the mian reason is to try and stop water getting into the engine.
