i need help identifying this engine ...it looks as if its from a fiat croma but its not turboed ....did the croma come with an atmospheric engine ???

Lots of work and frustration ahead but it'll be loads of fun and very rewarding once complete. Please keep us updated.

As for your previous question...I'm not familiar with the Croma engine unfortunately. I am sure other's on here will comment soon enough. I did find some info that might be helpful to you though.

Engine is from Croma, 834 B.000, 2.0 i.e. '87-'92 DOHC 8V, 1995 ccm. And it's not a easy fit in Uno, can be done, but lots of work and modifications

As Uno du says, its not an easy swap, having said that you havent got many alternative Italian engine options in Jamaica!

If I were you, I`d just keep it standard, a FIRE engined Uno is plenty quick enough if you know how to drive them! :D

If you are determined to change the engine, I`d say use a Honda lump, I`ve seen it done before, they do physically fit (although you have to fabricate mounts, gearchange, exhaust etc, but you would to fit the TC lump as well!) & they are easier to come across in JA!

nah im gonna go with the TC lump ... i think if i get an upturned intake manifold ill be great ....plus i have a tipo 5 speed gearbox already ...whinh im in the process of putting together ....

does anybody know where i can source a full gasket kit for this engine ...would like to freshen it up b4 i put it in ...would like a broader cam belt also ..& lighter cam pulleys some 1 was telling me that fiat had a twincam engine with composite cam sprockets ...anybody know where i can get a set ??

as i was advised :
Re metal vs plastic cam wheels.. Rule one when removing a plastic cam wheel is to throw it across the workshop so it hits a hard object and shatters... that way nobody will ever try to reuse it! They can and do fail... whenever possible replace with steel wheels.

so thats out now i beed to source lightened sprockets

I would do some research into this engine. It maybe the GM built ecotech engine that was shared by several other cars.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Croma

This may add some value to the engine or just the cam covers at least. In Fiat car clubs competitive events the engines used usually must be Fiat derived. GM made "Fiat" engines for a while so theoretically you could have any of the ecotech range of engines and gearbox packages from a front wheel driver mid mounted in a small fiat and as long as it had a Fiat cam cover I guess would be legal!
Check this out.

I wouldnt have thought there would be any parts availability in JA at all. Ebay is probably your best option, or finding a specialist in America.

I had a quick look on parcel2go & it looks like you`d be paying £70-ish to have it posted from the UK.

Maybe one of your British relations is planning on coming over soon? They could put it in a suitcase easily!

You need to get the part no of the engine to identify it properly.

The DOHC Fiat engine from the late 80s was used in things like the Tipo 2.0 8V and 16V, and the similar Tempra (through to the mid 90s). Also the 80s Strada / Ritmo 105TC (1600) and 125/135 TC (2 litre).

Also Lancias like the Beta - but Lancia did make changes to the design.
