hello there guys i have a fiat uno 999cc injection and i experience some acceleration problem.When you press the accelerator the engine tryies to accelerate but for some seconds the acceleration is really slow it feels that the car is braking. i recently had a problem with my fuel pump wich was blocked. i called the rac which knocked the pump with ta hammer twice and the car was fine again with great acceleration. do you think that this acceleration problemmight come from the pump or from the distributor?

hi, i think the pump is on its way out. mine was doin exactly same so got a new pump fitted and its been fine!

how much did it cost you mate? did you buy the same pump or universal?

it was £15 from scrapyard. off a same model uno etc, new i think its around £45 but i wouldnt bother with a new 1. do u know a mechanic who can check its that before replacing it? and have u replaced the fuel filter? good luck

thankds mate i replaced the fuel filter and the one i took out was puring black petrol and small black pieces this fuel filter had around 10.000 miles. i will fo to scrap yard over the weekend and check for a pump.

If you have small black pieces in your filter, then your fuel lines are breaking apart. This can happen when using un-leaded in a car once designed for leaded fuel or just due to old age. I had to change the fuel pump and some of the fuel lines due to this, i kept on get cr*p in the carb filter (just by the fuel in-let pipe).

i tryed to find a pump today all day but with no luck!!!! For a new they quoted me £160 +vat and 133 +vat i didnt manage to find one in a scrap yard. has anybody got one? or know a place to buy a new one cheap?

hi again, what a rip off price... ? if u r sure its the pump needs replacing there is a place in sheffield called 'sheffield imported motor factors' and they do new fuel pumps for around £68 i beleive. i presume they would post/send it u for a little extra! u should be able to get the number off net or if i find it i'll post it on here.
