Hi All,

I've been to my local Fiat Muppet dealer only to find that most of the parts I wanted to order are no longer available. They did manage to find another dealer who had them up north, but I'd have to call them myself and try and buy over the phone as the dealers aren't networked and my dealer can't/ won't get the parts themselves. So it's true about Fiats poor parts support for older models...

Anyway, can anyone recommend a breakers or specialist who deal with Uno's and in particular the turbo? Are there any in the south east/ London area? Anyone breaking a turbo themselves?

All I'm after are the upper suspension wishbone brackets that bolt to the anti-roll bar lower brackets. I want to fit the roll bar I got from a turbo, but can't without these brackets as they are unique to the turbo, diesel and mk2 SX models.

Any of you turbo guys know of some specialist breakers that have some turbos in stock for breaking? Anyone know of a good Fiat dealer in the south east that might actually be more helpful than the one near me?

Chas you might be in luck, Lobster off turbo collective is breaking his mark 2 at the moment. Maybe you could give him a call. Have a look on the turbo collective site for more details.

And one other place i use quite often for NEW parts is called "INTERPARTS" on hanworth road in hounslow...
Tel no: 0208 572 2217
There is one fiat dealer in the SE of london whos quite good as well but i lost his number, i think its on clapham road somewhere if i remember correctly.
Hope that helps

I'm sure that before I know it I'll have you turbo guys convincing me to drop in a turbo engine ;)

Good idea. It's an excellent piece of engineering, a perfect compromise between durability, reliability, economy, and cost... because it's not just the engine, it's the injection and ignition, and exhaust, and cooling, and EVERYTHING that works so well... the extra power is just a bonus!

My Uno Turbo has been off the road for well over a year, but while I was driving it, the engine never missed a beat. No blocked jets/failing ignition etc. etc...

Big thanks to you Fro$ty for pointing me to the Turbo Collective site - I got those elusive brackets I've been looking for! I also got a chance to drool over Lobsters mk2 Turbo (y)

Alex, I agree with you on how well designed the turbo version is. Compared with the opposition from it's era it's light years ahead. The Renault 5 might have handled better, but it was so low tech. Pushrod engine, carburetor, build quality of an airfix kit. Escort RS turbo, used the CVH engine - ugh!

The Fiat turbo engine is so well engineered, especially for a car from 1985. Just think how many would still be on the road if rust hadn't killed them, unlike the rivals which normally blew their engines for a living.

Remains to be seen as to whether I'll go the full turbo route with my 45S. With college looming and a few years of student poverty ahead I might have to wait a bit and stick with the 999cc FIRE. Then again, a 1242cc Punto engine is quite within reach, and when I get cash later on perhaps I can turbo that instead!

For now the 999cc is more than up for my needs :D
