Hi Guys
I`ve just popped over from the cinquecento section, has anyone got some(even one would do)rear caliper mounting plates from an uno turbo for sale or could email me a template so i can make some of my own?
Also how do they fit to the rear arm/rear hub?
Cheers
Adrian

I'm not sure, but I think you need the complete turbo hubs to have the brackets for rear discs/ calipers. They might not be detachable. You will also probably have to fit a different handbrake cable and that too might need extra brackets.

By the way, do you really need rear discs on a Cinq? Even the Uno with rear drums have a compensator valve to stop the rears locking under heavy braking. The Cinq is even lighter...

As 80% of most cars braking is done by the front brakes I would concentrate more on upgrading those and not worry about the rears.

Hi
Already got punto gt brakes for the front in the garage, but want to fit rear discs so i can have a handbrake that works, also looks well sweeeeet!!!!
Cheers

P.s cinque rear drums lock up under heavy braking anyway,

I've heard that the Cinq hand brake can give problems, but then again the Uno's was also known to be problematic. Nothing a good service/ strip/ clean up couldn't sort out. When was the last time your rear brakes were serviced? Many times they are neglected for years and only get looked at when they fail an MOT or stop working altogether!

Worth bearing in mind that because rear disc brakes don't have to work very hard, they often end up seizing/ rusting. Unless you buy new calipers (expensive) you're likely to find that old turbo calipers could well need full rebuilds anyway.

It seems rather a lot of work fitting rear discs to your Cinq just to get a working handbrake. And as you said, the standard Cinq rear brakes will lock up under heavy braking, so they will be even more likely to lock with rear discs unless you fit a reducing valve as well. Realisticaly, rear disc brakes really aren't going to help your Cinq's braking at all, and without a reducing valve they will actually make your car more unstable during heavy braking.

Then again, a lot of people want to fit rear disc brakes purely for looks. Style over function in my book! The youth of today, it's all about looks and not what it actually does
