Uno FIRE engine 1.0 with SPI but NO ignition module?

After 20 minutes of perfect running the engine will die as if the ignition has been switched off. Changing down a gear to rev the engine will keep it going (jerking). If the car stops completely, wait 30-60 seconds, the engine will almost certainly start again! The pattern of the fault is random - damp or dry.

I've checked all connections etc. but as the fault only occurs after engine gets hot and will start a few seconds after, tracing whether its fuel or ignition is proving to be difficult.

Has any one had similar experiences?

i had the same/similar problem. i had the head skimmed as pressure was down on one cylinder. didnt change it at all!! so avoid tht for a bit longer.

has the distributor changed and it stops straight after.

also before i had the distributorr changed i clean the carb. (with carb. clearner, aerosol spray stuff) a good old spray whilst the engine was running did the trick for about 20mins, the it cut out, wudnt start and generally was being a b***h to me :(

more than likely id say it was the distributor

question, does it do it with a full petrol tank? you could have a blockage in the tank which unblocks when the engine stops and re-blocks with suction.a half empty tank will do it quicker.also, quite agree with the amplifier idea.quite common.check the earth block to see if it gets hot.might be a poor connection that over heats.as you see can be several things.might have to eliminate things one by one.sorry.,but done this myself.do the easy and least expensive things first.

Sounds like the ignition amplifier module on the distributor overheating. It's the little silver block with fins that bolts onto the side. Check the two wires as well, they sometimes crack and can cause shorts.

Changed amplifier module and all is well :)

Thanks for the advice
