Hi everybody, my son drives a 2004 Uno Mia 1100. It has carburetor. When he is driving longer distance the car cuts out when he brakes for robot/stop street or slowing down, etc.He says this only happens when braking and driving longer distance. It very seldom will happen when driving in town and braking.

He says that it is like when you switch car off. (battery light comes on when it cuts out) The car will immediately start again.

We had somebody check it and they could not find the fault. They drove it around and nothing happened. But they only drove it in town and not on the open road.

I will really appreciate any help because I'm so frustrated with this.

Thank you

Hi Charlie

He says it is like switching the ignition off while driving. The engine dies , the battery light comes on and he has to restart the car. It starts immediately again. There is no stuttering or anything before it cuts out.

It only happens when he uses the brakes to slow down or when braking to stop at robot or when braking when taking off ramp. Also only happens when driving longer distances and not when driving in town.

Hope it helps, I do not know how else to explain

o.k.,
so it is not "coasting" = with the gearbox disconnected from engine ( via clutch)

but the engine has just "shut-down", are there ANY warning lights.?. other than battery + oil from a stationary engine..!!

as it's a 2004 car there should be SOME OBD facility ( OnBoardDiagnostics),
so look for a Code-reader serial port , commonly near fuse-box..sorry we didn't have the identical Uno to you,

Charlie

As first aid check the brake servo unit if that unit leaks it causes that engine to cut out and problem starts off slow and progresses also check your ignitor module
