Hello :)
I recently bought a set of locks for my 5 door Uno off ebay but they are from a 3 door car. The ignition barrel, hatchback lock and petrol cap will all change over all right but the door locks are completely different. Does anyone know if it's possible to totally dismantle the locks & replace just the lock barrel?
Thanks
Icestorm :)

hi,i would have thought they would be totally different because the 5 door's have the lock built into the handle and the 3 door's lock is attached to the door with a separate handle sunk into the door.

Hi dazzdog,

I can reassure you that the lock barrel itself is exactly the same, even though the bit that it fits into is different between the 3-dr and the 5-dr... I have put 5-dr locks into a 3-dr and vice versa.

A roll-pin (the name for a pin made from spring steel rolled-up) goes through the end of the lock barrel and transfers the movement to a muck-metal collar that is linked to the latch.

To get the barrel out, you have to drive out the roll pin using something like a drill bit as a drift. That allows you to take off the collar, and if you look closely you can see what looks like a lock tumbler sticking out (a thin spring-loaded 'blade') which you need to push in with a thin screwdriver. Then, the barrel just pushes out. It might be easier if you can insert the correct key - but it isn't absolutely necessary to have the key.
