hmm.. so the VL2 is only capable of 130hp... Are you sure?

Actually I don't need more than that, but it would be nice to know that the turbo is enough if I suddenly decide to go all the way.

I guess I'll have to talk to the guy selling it again. Thanks for the information!

let's say that I buy the Vl2 turbo, will it fit without any problems on my -89 Mk1 Uno? That's what the seller tells me.

Is this true?

I'm sorry if the questions are stupid, but I'm really no hot shot on these things! :rolleyes:
 
The stock turbo for an uno pre-90 have an IHI rhb5 VL2 , 7R and it´s only capable of 130 hp...trust me..

If it´s some kind of hybrid with bigger wheels maybe a bit more..

Jens, do you mean that changing the turbo will give me 130hp, if I don't do anything else to the car, or do you mean that I can not get anymore than 130hp with that turbo, even if I'd change the Intercooler, exhaust and so on?

And do I already have an VL2 turbo in my car? (stock) It's a pre-89.

The seller (nice guy, by the way) claims that turbo-service (svenskt företag) has told him that it's capable of at least 170-180hp.

I'm really confused right now. :) But in a good way!

Yes, you already have a VL2.. If turbo-service said that, it must be a hybrid with bigger compressorwheel.

You don´t automaticly get the power what the turbo is capable of.. It depends on a lot of things....

I have talked alot with turbo service and they seemed to be trustful.

I really don't know what to think about Turbo Service, and the seller seems to be a nice guy too.

Alright, I checked my turbo today, and finally found that I have a VL3 model!
The numbers were covered in a lot of dirt and soil...

Shouldn't I have a VL2..?

Damn, Im confused!

Will a Vl2 fit anyway?
 
VL3 is randomly located on uno t.. vl2 and vl3 is basicly the same..

It was streetlegal with 244 hp, The new motor is going to be tuned in a dynobench this summer. It´s not easy to get it passed "bilprovningen" in Sweden with the new huge turbo.
Everithing below 300 hp is dissapointing right now and it´s going to be like a dream to drive... You are welcome for a testdrive when finnished!

Anyway, the turbo was delivered yesterday and it fits without any problems. It'll be exiting to try it out.

Could someone perhaps give me a tip about an intercooler too? I guess thats the one thing left right now, this far, as I've got an open filter, new turbo and a new 2,5" exhaust.

How important is the intercooler? Is the stock IC any good?

I have done a few temp.measurements on a standard uno..
Ambient temp was around 20 degree C
@1 bar boost there was around 50 degree C after the stock ic.
@1.5 bar around 90 degree C

I have a ic from a SAAB 9000 and had around 35 degree all the time even at 2 bar boost. This is with a bigger turbo with better effiency.

There are a few horses to find with a good ic..I mean 50 degree makes a lot denser air. Another thing to keep in mind is the pressuredrop throw the ic, The saab ic "took" 0.2 bar from me..
