Hi,

I have a Uno Cento 1.1 1994.

I have been trying to solve the following problem.

The car wont go if not left to warm up even during the hot African summers.

If it goes eventually it struggles to get of the mark, sometimes stopping completely, i then have to clutch and rev to get it going.

Once on working temperature it goes fine under light acceleration, but it has a flat spot when i want to accelerate.

I have done the following to remedy the problem.

Had carburetor serviced, balanced and calibrated.

Replaced distributor and module.

Replaced plugs, and did major service, even replaced the cam belt, tension-er.

Had a compression test done and all cylinders run in the green.

Can this be an electronic problem, cause i am out of ideas.

Please help:bang:

Most likely cause is a vacuum leak - excess air getting in. Usually the vacuum advance capsule on the distributor. Also possible that the carburettor mounting is cracked (I think 1994 Unos have a carburettor in SA). Make sure manifold bolts are tight. Listen for sucking sounds indicating an air leak - spray brake cleaner around possible leak locations while the engine is running - a stumble in the speed suggests you have found the leak.

If it's still a mystery, check that the jets in the carburettor are the right size - someone may have changed them or drilled them out in a search for more power.

I had a flat spot on my Mia 1100 and found the vacuum advance diaphram was perished. I bought a new one and problem was solved.

Also check the brake servo unit for leaks as the servo unit uses the vacuum from the inlet manifold. I also had a similar problem turn out I used a carb gasket kit that was substandard, bought it from bumper to bumper in South Africa avoid tht one too
