Hi

please could somebody help

my front wing has a dent in quite near the front lights i just need to know if it is easy to take the wing off and if so how many bolts do i have to undo i took off the 3 on the top of the wing but i cant see any more ????

thanks james

on the face of it, it's quite simple, take out the indicator, the headlamp (and place well away from where you are working or you will step on it...like me...sigh) bolts along the top, the back edge wher the door is, at the bottom where meets the sill, the front, and i'm sure one in the middle too, or was that the plastic protector, anyway have a good feel and wiggle and you'll find them all soon enough, btw i found the bottom one a bugger coz it was rusty as heck, then reverse process to put the new one on, jiggle again to line it all up, pattern wings never seem to go straight on first time

oh almost forgot, slowly loosen the top bolt that holds the bonnet on, just enough to slide the top of the wing out, or it will go all "tongy"

cheers m8

Don't forget as well, that the front wings use a 'seam sealer' when assembled from the factory. Once all the bolts are off you'll find that the wing seems to be stuck where the sealer has been applied (normally along the top/ inner wing section). Don't force it off else you'll bend the wing! The metal is pretty thin...

It it's a bugger to get off, you can cut between the join with a Stanley Knife or something similar.

When reassembling, it's best to remove all the sealant from the wing and apply new sealant. That way the wing is insulated from the cars bodywork and it also helps stop water ingress which will lead to rusting.

BTW, if you do need a new wing I think they are pretty cheap - approx. £15. Only problem is that you'll have to have it resprayed to match the car.

Best of luck!
