 That’s some serious HP! He Hey you’ll be racing next ;)

:spin:I’ve only got 45HP at the moment – but I might go for the 999 FIRE Turbo :nerner::p

There is plenty of other things to tweak extra HP out of the 999 ;)

Regards All,

Have you found anyone else offering a kit? Mine's not ready yet, but it is pushing 140hp at the crank, though my old engine is now producing 180hp it had a lot of money invested!!

Nah Sorry smokeme I have seen no other kits – not that I’d been looking.

Luke pointed out your thread last night, and I got all excited at the possibility. I doubt I will have the funds to Turbo my 999 FIRE for some time :(

I like the sound of an extra 100HP from my 45 :) Keep up the good work!

Kind regards,

Kind regards,

The cheapest conversion cost 625euros (400 being the turbo) and produces 100hp, this was made using used parts obviously.:)

I like the sound of that POWER!

The MK 1 Turbo was 105 BHP in 1985 with the heavy non FIRE OHC engine at 940KG unladen. The 1.0 3 door is at the lower end of 700 – 810 KG. I’d guess the curb weight would not be increasing much with a turbo kit – very interesting power to weight ratio.

:chin: Wonder if I would need rear disk brakes to deal with the extra speed? Suspension would need tightening up no end.

I wonder what it will do to my insurance premium? – One way to find out – phone them up tomorrow :)

I got to know if I'm going to be able to drive it before i start

Bigger calipers and disks should do the trick rahter than poncing about with rear disk conversions, although would look better ;)

Maybe put the kit on mine and have the 1st 5 door uno turbo lol

If you don't say the power levels they don't care much, my testing was done on a Panda chassis, total weight with engine, driver and full tank was at 720kg, with this setup i was able to manage consistent high 14sec 1/4miles. No track testing has been done at the 180hp mark though, i would expect it to break the 13sec mark easily. The complete turbo kit weighs 42kg (i checked for shipping purposes). The car should have uprated brakes AND suspension before attempting to do this.

Here's my site if you're interested,

my goal is to break the 200hp barrier with a 999cc fire, using a panda chassis would be amazing as this would easily push 12sec 1/4miles on street tires:D
The best part of a fast panda is the amazement on people's faces, an Uno chassis just isn't the same:rolleyes:

I'll try to create a kit for every fire engine. Someone just asked me about a 1.5 fire engine in the X1/9 but i don't think that is a fire engine, anybody?

I will not supply a kit for any engine i have not tested for obvious reasons.

200 BHP 999 FIRE LOL smokeme that would be something! –

That would really shock the system - even on an Uno chassis!

Not sure what curb weight I’d get, but I have a fibre tailgate instead of metal one as quoted above. Can replace more glass and with surface toughened Perspex and polycarbonate, and “ally” body panels (according to www.sfconline.org.uk)

70SX's dont count ;)
What even with a Turbo lump dropped in

:p It would count in my book LOL

Not sure TBH – I’m an Uno head – the 1.5 Uno was never sold in UK – but I’ve herd it was the same old 1299 non FIRE lump. This doesn’t rule out a 1.5 FIRE – ask for pictures!

Good Lad!

The only problem i have to not reach 200hp is that i want it reliably!! With the mods i have at the moment i can already push the 200hp mark for brief periods but only on racing gas:mad: , i want to do it on pump and on the street tires:D .

If i can make a kit for around 500euros plus turbo, i'll have a lot of people interested. This is a better option then a uno turbo/Y10turbo swap in my opinion because parts are abundant and cheap, and if we need uprated things we steal them off higher end models:rolleyes:

For that price, there will be alot of interest. Considering Van Aaken do a turbo conversion for the 1108cc FIRE engine which can be transfered onto a 1242cc, for the sum of over £1000 (about 1400+ euro  ) and produces about 85bhp IIRC

If you add the price of a new turbo and intercooler it will be close, but you will have the option of getting a used turbo cheap, another advantage of my setup is that you can use the stock exhaust and downpipe (includes aftermarket downpipes), my setup does not include an intercooler but it is advisable for higher boost (0.5bar ~110hp)

An oil cooler is not necessary at this power level but would be a good addition if the engine is to see a lot of track time. An oil cooler is really expensive for what it is.

Yer laughing gas is cheating.

 street tyres LOL.

If I recall the Y10 1.0 Turbo was the OHV lump in the same family as the Uno’s 903 engine – so better to go for newer / tougher parts I guess.

Plenty of old Oil coolers to choose from for track days ;)

There are plenty of used turbos/intercoolers/oil coolers for sale if people don't want to buy off the scrappy. Eventually i'll place a page on my site with all the oem cars that have turbos of interest so people know what to look for at the scrappy. As i said before, it can be done for 625euros complete (400 euros was for the turbo)
