Hi - Just wondered if anyone else owned past or present a similar car to mine - '92 Uno 60's i.e. CHIC - I have owned it for 3 yrs since buying it off my parents who bought it new - I have only seen 2 others - a 5dr like mine in the same greeny blue metallic "VERDI SPARK" & a 3dr met. blue 3 dr, within a few weeks of each other about 18 months ago, they are the only ones I've ever seen in 12 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else seen one??? They have CHIC decals behind the rear windows and on the hatch.

Will post some pics soon :)

Hope to hear from y'all real soon.......................

Hi phatboy130,

 Welcome To the Forum – Glad you made it

I think I have seen one or two for sale over the last 6 months. Like the 3 door 1.4 IE (or 70) there doesn’t seem to be many around.

 I can’t remember if it is the CHIC or the Mambo that has the Bright interior. I guess when you’ve added some pictures, all will be clear.

Do you have electric windows and central locking? These are part of the “SX” trim I am interested in.

Kind Regards,

Hi Louie, cheers for the welcome.

Re my Uno Chic,it doesn't have EW or C/L, the interior is blur with bright stripes on the seats.

Also, I think it may be a bit unusual as I believe it is fitted with a Tipo style gearbox,it feels like one, not the usual spoon in a bowl of custard style floppy gear shift on the other Uno's I have driven, anyone got any ideas on this??

It has to be one of the cleanest Uno's on the road in original form ( I kid you not) Both inside and out - piccies will show when I get round to them :)

BTW - For those of you running original spec cars - Re tyres - I run 155/R13 front & 165/R13 rear, the car has been like this for for about 6 yrs, acc. to my Dad who owned it first from new, it does make it handle and feel a lot better - anyone else tried it??

Ah the C514 gear box (press lever down for reverse) A gift from FIAT (page 13 . 98 in reg Haynes - ;) or Busboys PDF Sticky).

Don't forget to change the transmission oil every 3 Years as they are prone to ware – the original FIAT advice of 10 years was wrong. Get the right grade from a FIAT dealer - cheaper than Halfords best stuff:)

Interesting about the 155/R13 front & 165/R13 rear! I got a set of Alloys off an Uno Turbo – (in another thread), and the tyres (which need replacing) are 2 x 165/R13 and 2 x 175/R13. That’s on hold while I sort my new Mk1 out. I might put the MK2 into storage till a rainy day lol.

Regards All,

PS that’s a few Unos you driven – how does the Diesel compare?

Hi Louie - Re gearbox - nope not that one ie no pushing down for reverse, not the one in Haynes - thats why I think it is a bit unusual lol ;)

Re tyres - bearing in mind my car is original - when my father owned the car and it needed it first set of rear rubbers changing, it was a friend of his who runs a tyre place that advised him to up from a 155/r13 to a 165/r13 on the rears to improve handling.

Re diesels - I haven't driven one now since 1992  but the 2 he had in succesion were really good, they were a 1.7 litre non turbo, they had a lot of low down torque so pulled really well and would happily do 60 mpg on the motorway at 65 mph.

The extra weight at the nose did make the steering a little heavy, but the weight in general seemed to make the diesel cars sit a lot firmer on the road.

Yep, certainly have driven a few Fiats m8 (y)
