Finally it is time to get my 1600 Tipo engine into my 84 70s.
I also have a partially burnt out 70SL, only some plastics in the engine bay are melted. It has the later bottom change gearbox.

I will use all the relevant 70SL parts I need to get a gearbox and engine together. Starter Motor, flywheel, head and manifolds etc.

It will only be used as a road car.

Questions:
Should I use the Uno cam or the Tipo cam.
Should I get the 1300 head skimmed very much or just enough to make sure it is straight. (I also have an 1100 I could use the head from.)
Will I have any issues mounting the later gearbox into the 84 Uno.
What about the driveshafts, they look different.
Will I have to replace the hubs and rotors too.

I hope JJ is still looking in here, but I don't need a beast like his!!

Thanks all,

/R

Hi
Take as many parts from the TIPO as you can . If you can, the gear too.
Newer UNOs have the "TIPO Gear" which is shifted from the upper floor. Older Unos are shiftet from the lower side ( under floor). You will need driveshafts from another UNO 70,75 too.
TIPOs have the BOSCH SPI and the camshaft is the same as in the UNO 75, 1.5 engine. TIPOs just have more stroke.
Looks like a lot of work !
