My Uno 1.1 (FIRE engine) has got a strange problem. Recently there is a pinging sound that comes from the exhaust on over run of the engine. It sounds a bit like a two stroke engine with that 'pea in a tin can' sort of sound. I've checked the timing with a strobe and it's spot on. I even retarded it a little bit to see if it helped but it didn't. The mixture is okay and the car performs well, it's just this noise from the exhaust; it's not too loud but I notice it! I must add that I fitted a recon head with valves, cam, etc about six months ago. Could this be valve timing? I checked valve clearances and they were okay. I changed the distributor module and pick up inside but it made no difference.
As I said the car goes well, it's just that this sound is anoying me!
