Don't paint it Jai...

that's probs why the handbrake fails :p

are they ARB bushes superflex or power?

I fitted super and had to trim the ones I fitted to the outer as they snagged the CV boot when the front wheels were jacked off the ground (n). probs why some Unos eat outer CV boots.

super have 4 the same for the ARB but I don't think power do

how many 539's you get for £90?

the other three are painted, can't be dealing with fitting, bleeding, then either painting on car later or taking it off to paint it and fitting again.....

ARB bushes are superflex, i was down that way picking up some alloys so popped in. they were a tight squeeze but do fit, after peter the pitstart bloke had a go.

you can get 2, then again mine are smaller than the ones you needed

135/80R13  that's the 999cc Uno size :D

I just need a 999cc Uno to go with them,

did you cut the outer diameter of the outer ARB bushes down . I had to to avoid contact with the CV boot. they are a diferent design to the OEM ones, but won't matter till your front wheels leave the ground with spinning wheels .

Oh don't the nat asp thermostat open at a diferent temprature to the turbo one . won't that explain why the blank boss which could have been drilled, tapped then pluged (remove if needed) to avoid 2 similar parts for the aftermarket? :bang:

scroll down, the a539s are 2/3 rds way down.

nope not cut down, the boots don't look exactly OEM, but seems ok.

the housings are identical, if there is any difference maybe it's a degree or two in the thermostats rating, hopefully the the changes wth the new rad etc will be enough to keep her just right.

had it running static for about 30 mins, temp barely crept past 90, idle adjusted to 1k rpm, and stayed there. no excessive pressure on hoses. seems to be holding, fingers crossed:p

ok, minor update, supplier assures me short of a stampede of buffalo blocking the motorways, the new caliper will be ready for collection at about 10:30am. the MOT is re-booked for 4:30pm......6 hours to prep, paint, dry, fit, bleed, adjust the system, and then burn down to hounslow for the test.......

new game, hold your nerve.......no fear!:slayer:

You'll make it... that's less than two hours of work :D

Get the hairdrier out... (to dry the paint faster...) get it on...
Make sure there's lots of brake fluid in the reservoir and then just pump away with the bleed nipple open and a pipe attached, no real need for an assistant... as long as the pipe is full of clear fluid with no air, that's all you need - tighten the nipple, remove the pipe, and go! GO! :)

Actually that's not quite true - you do of course have to pump the pedal about 50 times once the system is bled, to get the rear calipers self-adjusted, and THEN you can tighten the handbrake. I always slacken the handbrake cable right off at the lever before I touch the rear calipers, I'm sure you do the same. The rear calipers won't adjust themselves enough if the cable is at 'normal' tightness.

My Uno rear brakes have treated me really well over the years, even withstanding the time I left the handbrake on during a hillclimb event and finished in a cloud of white smoke  At least that polished up the discs.

Good luck mate.

Good luck with it all :)

caliper fitted and bled, cable hooked up, all thanks to chas for sticking it out and getting stuck in!(y)

she's braking hard, and fast, and the handbrake is holding firm, leaving in 5 mins for the final showdown:slayer:
