Front FOG light into NoNe fog light bumper?

WOuld it be possible to fit a front FOG light into a none fog light bumper?
I realise I'll have to cut the hole out....
But how does the fog light fix in place?
Could I make up my own brackets to do this?
Just a thought as I've seen a front fog cheap in FLeaBay

Get a metal bracket to strengthen the plastic perhaps?

I'm sure it shouldn't be too hard anyway.

The Uno bumpers (turbo and SX) that take fog lights have a cavity behind the hole with a moulded box section that the light bolts to. See picture below of a turbo bumper and you can just see the cavity sections behind the holes.

No doubt you could cut a hole in a standard bumper and mount a fog light to it, but as Ucof says you'll need to reinforce the fog light(s) with a metal bracket or something similar to hold the light securely in place.

By the way, if you're thinking of finding a cheap turbo bumper then think again as they're going for over 200 in mint condition! They're also unavailable new and are rare in good condition second hand as most owners are holding on to them as spares. 70SX bumpers aren't that much better as they're probably rarer still but at least they don't cost as much when they do turn up. Maybe a jigsaw and a metal bracket could be the way to go after all

Re: Front FOG light into NoNe fog light bumper?

Chas, it's not the same as for MK1

Think you can get an aftermarket MK2 turbo jobbi, and I'm sure you can get an SX aftermarket jobbie still

I got a MK2 SX bumper new for a tenner a few years ago . Gave it away when I broke the car as my mate had a MK2 SX with a sorry looking bumper, but they were still on the likes of beavers and haydrians

http://hadrian.dominohosting.biz/had...cument&Ret=ALL

And,
the MK2 bumper I had didn't have the moulded bit (unlike the MK1) the brackets are plastic but screws into the bumper. Can’t remember if there are 8 special mount points or if it's there on the non fog one.

Don't know if I have a spare pair of brackets still.

Re: Front FOG light into NoNe fog light bumper?

Found it pictured perfectly in the Haynes manual.

There appears to be 2 arms that come out from the bumper, towards the engine bay, onto which the fog lamp sits and is bolted.

Hmm, I wonder if you could araldite/ strip heat some plastic together to create the bracket?

If you PM me your mobile number, I'll MMS you a picture of the picture

YuP
BUT I'll be remove the 'retro' LuCaS FoG I have currently dangling and sell it with its brother on Retro Rides as I still have the original LuCaS black plastic covers that go with them and someone with a 70's retro classic would pay fair money for them

Don't want to have to spend money out on a new bumper
FucT FiaT is about mods for pennies
Just looking to kinda BoDGe fit a single nearside fog I can grab of FLeaBay relatively cheap.....

Also looking for a cheap splitter to add to the bottom of the bumper
BUT everyone knows the angular Renault Laguna and Golf VR6 ones can be adapted to fit lots of cars with angular bumpers like the Uno
So Laguna/VR6 splitter go for FAR TOO much money on FLeaBay...even in a well DuFF SCRaPeD STaTe..!

Ta, found that on page 356 of the Haynes Owners Workshop Manual
Looks like a single plastic bracket underneath the fog that three bolts go through

Which you can see in the image of the Fog that is on FLeaBay
[its upside down in this pic]

Not beyond the wit of my plastic welding skills with a soldering iron to BoDGe up a version of this bottom support bracket....

BY the way the item number on FLeaBay is 260552918001
and they have more than TEN available
Just bought one for 7-99 incl delivery

Re: Front FOG light into NoNe fog light bumper?

Hmm.. I'd say that it's 2 plastic arms, rather than a single bracket.

Though perhaps is a mixture of both, with 2 arms on a single bracket....

Meh..
either way, I'm tempted by the fogs, but can't afford them after the recent MOT

Re: Front FOG light into NoNe fog light bumper?

Splitters on ebay seem to all sell for more than they are brand new from GSF. i think the VR6 one might be a little bit deep, and it is a pain to fit on anything else than a golf unless you get the bottom inch of bumper as well.

the standard golf one might be bit better, i'll have a look and remind myself how they fix.

I'd personally go for the 01 seat ibiza spliter, cheap from seat themselves.
its got a flat top so should fit anything with some pop rivets.
