I have a uno I.E 999 cc. Ive sorted the noisy distributor but now I've got another problem.

No oil feed to the top of the engine. Ive tried flushing oil followed by fresh oil. NO JOY.

The cam feed pipe is clear and clean. The feed oilway appears clean. You get the oil warning light with ignition switch on, then as soon as you start the engine the light extinguishes as normal indicating there is oil pressure of some sort.

Take the rocker cover off whilst the engine is running and there is NO OIL FEED whatsoever from the cam feed pipe, so the cam is running dry. The car has done 65000 miles verified. Any ideas ??

How much is a new oil pump ?

I had the same problem with mine, standard 999cc non IE. I blew the whole system through with compressed air and parafin and gave it a good clean. Took all the parts off - took the gears off teh oil pump and gave them a good clean etc forced air through all the channels.

Put it back together and all was well. Couldnt say exactly what the problem was and what exactly fixed it, but stripping down the engine and giving it a complete clean/overhaul made all the difference :)

Not sure how much a new pump would be. It may be worth taking the old one off first and seeing if the gears are infact actually worn or not - otherwise it'll be a waste of money, as the underlying problem my be elsewhere such as the oil channes are blockedl :)

Thanks for that, I will certainly give it a try first, however I do believe that it is a problem with the oil pump. Possibly the pressure release valve is stuck, this would result in low oil pressure. I could still do with finding out the price of a new pump tho ??
