Hey guys.
Im looking at upgrading to a larger turbo on my uno turbo and am wondering if there are any in particular that go well with uno turbo's or any that dont. Please help. Is there much top end gain?

So far ive done
- bleed valve set 1.2 bar
-MSD coil
-high current leads
-bosch performance plugs
-bosch external pump fuel
-wrx injectors
-SCI blow off valve
-Steel head gasket
-Straight pipe exhaust (no mufflers resonators or cats)
-Custom dump from turbo straight to atmosphere
-Vr4 fmic
-pod filter

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

You've sprent a few quid already, so i'd suggest looking at one of the not very cheap but highly rated GT series turbos by Garrett.

I expect you'd like the 25 or even the 28 depending on your compromise for numbers and drivability...

EDIT: you'd need a mk2 or punto gt manifold, but thats peanuts in the grand scheme of things..

In the wing? I think i can make it out..

You regret selling it then. Have you approached him to see how much he would move the price?

You'll need more fuel before you can use a larger turbo, you're already probably on dangerous ground at 1.2 bar on the stock turbo.

Quite an impressive spec there! Intrested to see how the WRX injectors are working with the standard ECU etc. I went for a T28 which i must admit is a bit laggy, after 3000rpm you are on boost but i now wish i had chose something better...:(

i dont think ill need more fuel? injectors already aftermarket.. are yellow top and I was told yellow top means wrx injectors but must be another kind and also uprated pump so fuel shouldnt be an issue. does run very rich though. anyway thanks for all the advice but i have now purchased a turbo for my Uno. its a VJ20 mazda turbo. these are not huge and if its not big enough i figured i can just take it off again as the direct bolt on hybrid with a subaru vf10 which is a fair amount bigger.

VJ20 wont bolt up to an Uno mk1. They have a weirdo one off flange. The turbine hgs is also a little on the big side. Go for a 12R off a VJ6 (BFMR) or even use the Uno housing and machine it out.

btw, you cant just stick bigger injectors in and assume its all going to be fine. you can do a lot of damage to the engine if its running too rich also.

oh yea I know it has been machined to bolt straight up. mmm that might be better but owell i have bought it now and ill see how it goes. :)
Yeaa i no i no lol bought it this way. the uno is out of action atm any way and is having a overhaul in the easter holidays. Head is coming off as i suspect maybe a really small break in head gasket maybe cracked piston im not too sure hard to say. so while the head is off i will stick the new turbo on as it will be accessible with the intake manifold off. Do u know where icould buy a rebuild kit for mk1 or a good place where i can buy parts such as head gasket turbo gasket intake manifold gaskets etc etc as i may aswell do them all while the engine is apart and maybe likely ill find broken ones as i take stuff apart.
Plus bought some new 14" wheels with decent semi slick tyres. good for traction on the 1/4 mile :p

oh thanks for that loui bee! thats most likely what they will be. They are hardly an upgrade over the mk1 ones :( better than nothing i guess

Mk2 injectors dont fit a Mk1. Japanese injectors like Mitsubishi injectors can be made to fit Mk1's easy. You're only guessing by going off the colour.

I would recommend a genuine Fiat headgasket from a dealer, Andrew Simms etc. The rest of the stuff can be from anywhere.
