Insurance on Uno turbo

Hi there.
No at a long shot i wonder if any of you could help.

Basically ive had my 999cc for a year (first car) so got my years no claims bonus, and have done the pass plus. Got no points or convictions. Now im fed up with it but want to keep with the uno. i cant see it worthwhile to just keep this one, so im considering getting an uno turbo. The only thing stopping me is the insurance. My 999cc unmodded etc was costing me 1250 TPF&T!!

Anyone got any ideas how much the uno turbo's insurance will be roughly? I've done online quotes but have got nothing. And i cant be bothered to ring around insurance companys. I will if someone gives me a ball point figure to go on.

If insurance available at all for a 17 y/o, I would expect upwards from the 2k mark unless you get lucky. Having said that, the ONLY way to find out is to phone up. If you ask Pete (fixitagaintomorrow) I am sure he would provide you with a few names for high performance cars, I think HIS is one and Adrian Flux another but have a feeling the latter only does 21+

CIS is good but no good for people who dont declare mods as they come out to the house.

Re: Insurance on Uno turbo

Ah sorry, for some reason thought you were 17 but that's stupid, 1985....and at Uni, just didn't think.

I think Dunc_turbo is 21 - he has a VERY modified uno turbo as is [i think] 21. He might be worth asking?

I wouldn't even consider it being a 19 year old myself with 1 year NCB and 1 year Passplus.

Re: Insurance on Uno turbo

If the insurance for a Uno Turbo is too much, consider getting a 1.4 and tuning the engine.

Seeing as almost every Turbo will have its engine modified too, and the mods will be reflected in the insurance quote, if you modified a 1.4 you would still be able to get a 9ish sec 0-60 and the insurance would be a lot cheaper.

Worth considering, ta I just love the sound of the dump valves, i think thats why im leaning more towards the turbo

Re: Insurance on Uno turbo

CIS are very very good with mods ("so long as you dont change the engine size or make it something its not then it wont add anything to your premium")... am with them all mods declared for 1300 (second cheapest was 1700 all mods declared), and CIS will cover my 1242 for 1700ish (monthly payments lol ) which as i said, is what the other insurance cos wanted out of me for a 1108 with the mods

try HIS too they are very good

Re: Insurance on Uno turbo

oops yeah HIC

i'd have got a quote with them as well as CIS except im not 19 yet, although i think my 1242 quote is similar to what tom (aob) is paying with HIC anyway, so is all gravy

if i wasnt modded i could have got insurance for around 950ish with norwich union, but CIS didnt add anything for the mods (other than engine obv) whereas when given my list of mods norwich union wanted similar to most of the others (1700-1750)

Re: Insurance on Uno turbo

hiya there, well as they said i'm 21 with 1 yrs ncb and 6 points and i pay 1000 fully comp with all mods declared (including roll cage with put it up alot!!) and an agreed value with greenlight insurance but you have to be 21 to go with them.

you will get insured on a uno turbo at 19 with 1yncb but it will be around to 2200 mark IF they will insure you.

your goin to have to ring around for quotes as everyone is different.

i got my first turbo car (a clio with a R5 GTT engine) when i just turned 19 and i have no no claims and was paying 1700 3rd pf&t, then got my uno when just 20 and put it in my dads name.

22 in jan so will be coming down again soon

hope this helps

Dunc
