painfull.....i screamed a fit at my original broker when he wanted £800 for fully comp!

Im 19 with 1years NCB and i pay £1100 for UT with Alloys, S/S exhaust system & lowerd 40mm with Fastrack 08707 454550 but im going 2 elephant.com they are well cheap. Hint tho - dont declare a Dumpvalve i couldnt get insuranec anywhere with one (y)

I just did some digging around for HIC at the FSA - Looks like they were bought out by Adrian Flux a while ago - Or, at least, the same directors.

Dunno why that matters, but it's interesting to know as Adrian Flux sucked with an insurance quote on my standard 1108cc.

i'm further hoping to get a slight reduction when i move house, and get a garage, though i dont think it'll be much for the last 3 months of the term, as after that i'll be changing cars, and the tub will go into hibernation

For what it's worth......

I live in New Zealand, and I just got insurance for my Uno Turbo (even though it's currently not running).

Full insurance, including the $2000 (not retail price either) stereo is costing me a measley $300 a year :D :D :D

Thats $300NZD, and I turn 19 in December.

Hi Muzzie! Welcome to the forum.
I have no idea who you are but I guess we'll meet one day. I'm in Hamilton. Currently onto my sixth Uno, and still have the white Uno Turbo to be working on.

My insurance was $178 for last year when I had my Turbo insured, but that's only third-party. I just can't comprehend paying the money these guys in the UK pay. That's several times the value of the car, paid out every year...

It's amazing how the years creep by on you. When I was 19, I had a white Uno 60, it rocked... no insurance, since we don't need it by law... now I'm 25... cheaper insurance has arrived... I suppose my message to everyone here is to save your money and drive un-modified cars for a few years... ;)

I agree that the UK car insurance premiums are extortionate compared to other countries but then again so is everything else in the UK. Just look at petrol prices, almost £1 a litre in many places. But quite frankly if you want to live here then you just have to get on with it or take it up to parliament.
But I think that high insurance prices are a good idea for hot hatches like the Uno Turbo and other fast cars because it makes it harder for younger inexperienced drivers to have access to such vehicles.
If it means our roads are safer then its a price worth paying imo. Statistically its proven that young male drivers are more of a high risk to insure than any other category. I like the idea of building up no claims bonus too because it means that you have to start at the bottom of the ladder and work your way up. As time goes by premiums go down. You have to earn that privilage by being a safe and responsible driver. People who try to jump the ladder by getting fast cars and dont know how to control them are the ones who are most likely to end up having an accident, injuring or worse maybe killing someone which means higher insurance for everyone else. Sad but true
